UPTOSETNEWRECORD
IN PADDY PRODUCTION
First India Bureau
Lucknow: Uttar
Pradesh is all set to set
a new record in paddy
production for the sec-
ond year in a row this
year. With cultivation
of paddy on 60 lakh hec-
tares of land this year
against last year’s 58.92
lakh hectares due to fa-
vourable weather con-
ditions, better rains
and steps taken by the
Yogi Government in the
interest of farmers, ag-
ricultural experts be-
lieve that the yield will
increase by one million
tonnes in the current
kharif season. Last
year, production of pad-
dy had crossed 257.04
lakh tonnes.
Notably, the Agricul-
ture Department had
set a target of paddy
cultivation on 60 lakh
hectares of land out of
96.03 lakh hectares this
kharif season, of which
sowing had been done
on 57.72 lakh hectares
till August 4. Paddy
sowing on the remain-
ing land is likely to be
completed by August
15.
Based on comparison
of last year and this
year’s data, the depart-
ment is claiming that
there will be a record
production of paddy in
UP this year.
Besides, UP is likely to
set a new record in the
production of coarse
cereals like millet and
maize as well due to the
conducive weather, ac-
cording to experts.
Out of 18 divisions in
the state, the produc-
tion of paddy is likely
to be highest in the Ba-
reilly Division due to
its maximum sowing.
In Bareilly Division,
paddy has been sown
on 194.40 thousand hec-
tares of land followed
by 175.50 thousand hec-
tares in Moradabad Di-
vision, 156.01 thousand
hectares in Meerut Di-
vision, 141.40 thousand
hectares in Aligarh Di-
vision, 73.72 thousand
hectares in Saharanpur
Division and 25 thou-
sand hectares in Vind-
hyachal Division.
With record produc-
tion of paddy and
coarse cereals, Uttar
Pradesh’s participa-
tion in the Central food
basket will increase
further.
Apart from favoura-
ble weather, Yogi Gov-
ernment’s policies
aimed at increasing
farmers’ income have
played vital role in in-
creasing foodgrains
production in the state.
According to agricul-
tural experts, even dur-
ing the second wave of
Novel Corona virus
pandemic, Chief Minis-
ter Yogi Adityanath en-
sured that agricultural
programmes continued
uninterrupted.
BJP’s National President JP Nadda, CM Yogi Adityanath, UP BJP’s in-charge Radha Mohan Singh, State BJP President Swatantra Dev

CM’S RAKSHA BANDHAN GIFT
Lucknow: The Chief
Minister of state, Yogi
Adityanath on the occa-
sion of Raksha Bandhan
has announced a big
gift to daughters of UP.
According to the order
issues, girls who will be
taking buses on Raksha
Bandhan festival will not
only be given a gift, but
their ride will also be free
of cost. This will be the
fifth year in the Transport
Corporation history that
women on the occasion
of Raksha Bandhan will be
availing the benefit due to
the approval of the Chief
Minister. Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath said that
on this holy festival of
brother and sister, women
would be given free travel

well as gifted Rakhi and

Uttar Pradesh to have
its own ‘State Song’
First India Bureau
Lucknow: After
states like Gujarat,
Madhya Pradesh,
Andhra Pradesh and
Bihar, Uttar Pradesh
would also soon have
its own official ‘State
Song’.
The Yogi Adity-
anath government
which started the
practice of organis-
ing UP Diwas on Jan-
uary 24 three years
ago is fine-tuning the
lyrics and composi-
tion of the track,
which would then be
officially adopted as
the ‘state song’, offi-
cial sources said.
This song would
then be sung and
played at important
governmentfunctions
and educational insti-
tutions would also be
asked to pitch in to
popularise it. UP al-
ready has a couple of
popular song like ‘Jai
Jai Uttar Pradesh’
penned by Pankaj Pri-
tam but it has not
been given the official
status of the state
song. “The idea be-
hind the move is to
inculcate a sense of
pride in people about
their state and evoke
the same feeling and
patriotic fervour
which overwhelms
you when the national
anthem is played,”
said an official.
On the initiative of
former UP Governor
Ram Naik, the Yogi
government had start-
ed celebrating the
state’s foundation day
as UP Diwas on Janu-
ary 24, 2018. Uttar
Pradesh, unlike some
other states including
Uttarakhand that was
carved out of it in No-
vember 2000, does not
have an official state
song of its own. Ear-
lier known as the
United Provinces, Ut-
tar Pradesh got its
currentnamethrough
a legislation on Janu-
ary 24, 1950, after two
years of acrimonious
debates and discus-
sions over around 20
suggestions for the
new name such as Ar-
yavarta, Avadh,
Bharat Khand, Brah-
madesh, Hindustan,
Ram Krishna Prant
and Uttara Khand.
Not only is the state
information depart-
ment believed to be
working on some lyr-
ics, but the culture
department is also
gearing up to enlist
public participation
in composing songs,
the best of which
could be designated as
the official state song
by the government.
The state govern-
ment, according to an
official, is all set to
organise an online
competition for peo-
ple to pen songs as
part of ongoing cur-
tain raiser activities.

INDIA’S SNUB TO
PAK AT UNSC MEET
ON AFGHANISTAN
ith the Taliban once
again on the ram-
page in Afghanistan
there is an uncer-
tainty in the neigh-
bourhood. Pakistan and China
are in a tango to put India at a
disadvantage. In the past, Paki-
stan has used the Taliban to cre-
ate trouble in India and intends
to do the same once again. Al-
though India has been in talks
with the Taliban, who have re-
sponded with a conciliatory ap-
proach, India has to prevent Pa-
kistan from gaining an upper
hand in the region.
In a snub, Pakistan did not
congratulate India when it as-
sumed the presidency of the UN
Security Council for the month
of August. On its part, India did
not invite Pakistan to a UNSC
meet on Afghanistan. During
the discussions Afghanistan’s
Permanent Representative to
UN Ghulam Isaczai attacked Pa-
kistan for “providing safe haven
and logistical support to the
Taliban”. Pakistan called the
charge a “false narrative” being
peddled against it, but it will
take more than words for the
world to believe Islamabad.

. It is
one the unsaid and untold au-
thentic historical piece of
document penned by Santosh
Bhartiya the Member of 9th
parliament of India Santosh
Bhartiya is famous for his
dare and credibility in the
world of political journalism.
The book is a must worth-
read for every Indian who
wants to measurethefathoms
of Indian politics. This book
gives a new perspective to the
reader to understand the po-
litical environment of yester
years. The content is written
inamannerwhichcanchange
thevisionandstereotypedim-
age that one generally has
about V P Singh, Chan-
drashekar, Sonia Gandhi but
about everyone who was a
part of the political system of
80s and 90s. In fact, the reader
will be astounded, amazed,
surprised and taken aback by
the unusual and unexpected
revelations of political lead-
ers,bureaucracyandbusiness
tycoons of that era.
He reveals that “Once Rajiv
Gandhi got so angry that he
punched hard on the table be-
fore him. VP Singh felt it was
uselesstowait,heturnedback
aftersayingnamaste.[page81]
Then further writes Santosh
Bhartiya, “that evening of
22nd May 1987 had started
writingaboutthefutureof Ra-
jiv Gandhi and the future of
Vishwanath Pratap Singh”.
It is written that how and
when Mulayam Singh played
an important role in breaking
the Janata Dal government.
When and how ten thousand
farmers along with VP Singh
had given their arrest by do-
ingSatyagraha.[page283]Raj
Babbarwasworriedthatfrom
where people would come to
welcome ‘him’ the next day?
Thenonwhatconditiondidhe
take help from Bala Sahib
Thackeray? Who was that
‘him’[ page 94 ]. While writing
all these incidents, there is
mention of an incident which
reveals his bonding with ac-
tress Rekha, he writes that
“Next day I went to Taj then
within five minutes Rekha Ji
came down and sat in my Fiat
car UHF-1 to hit the streets of
Delhi” [ page 661)
Themostshockingincident
written in this book is where
Santosh ji writes about an in-
cident when Rajiv Gandhi
was a former Prime Minister
and he came to live at 10 Jan-
path. One day Amitabh Bach-
chan came to meet Rajiv Gan-
dhi. When he left after ten
minutes, Rajiv Gandhi said,
“He is a snake”. When Rajiv
Gandhi said this, there was a
journalist present who was
seen more around Rajiv Gan-
dhi in those days. [ page 57]
In this book, the balanced
personality of the politicians
and the game of equations of
their policies and diplomacy
has been written very effec-
tively
. As it is written on one
page that “Chandrashekhar
neverconsideredVPSinghas
a leader but used him as a
strategy to win elections”. [
page 255 ] In one place it is
written that “snakes were be-
ing released in ‘his’ meetings,
an attempt was made to push
‘him’ at the railway station”.
The reader must read to know
who was this person and why
was he conspired against. [
page 135] A chapter titled “Bo-
fors” mentions “actually Ot-
tavio Kvatrocchi, an Italian
frequent visitor to the Prime
Minister’s house, was the di-
rector of all this drama, Rajiv
Gandhi never came to know
that when and how his house
andofficewereusedintheBo-
fors deal.” “. In this book, for
the first time that exact inci-
dent, the country will be able
to know how Manmohan Sin-
ghbecamethePrimeMinister
after all.
Santosh Bhartiya reveals
the sensational conversation
between Chandrashakhar
and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, it is
written that where Chan-
drashakhar said Atal ji that “I
will leave my party, you also
quite BJP, I will ask Sharad
PawaraswelltoleavetheCon-
gress, and let all three of us
travelaroundthecountryand
prepare public for a new po-
litical change. On this Atal ji
hadsaidthat“Chandrasekhar
ji you are absolutely right but
you do not know RSS, they
won’t leave me alive, if I join
you by separating from RSS ‘’.
[ page 435]
Another astonishing inci-
dent is written about why and
how Sonia Gandhi had dis-
tanced herself from Amitabh
Bachchan, it is written that
after the death of Rajiv Gan-
dhi, “One day Sonia Gandhi
told Amitabh Bachchan that
she was very worried about
Rahul’s fees as she doesn’t
have any money left. And can
he just arrange the fees? To
this, Amitabh Bachchan re-
plied, “Lalit Suri and Satish
Sharmamessedupthemoney
,
nothing is there, but I will do
something.” Two days later,
he sent a cheque for one thou-
sand dollars to Sonia Gandhi.
Sonia Gandhi returned that
cheque to Amitabh. Sonia
Gandhi could never forget
this incident and considering
it as an insult, she trashed
Amitabh Bachchan from her
life forever. [ page 59]
Making some revelations
aboutthebusinessworld,San-
tosh Bhartiya writes that “
An
incident made Dhirubhai the
biggest enemy of VP Singh.”
What was that incident is
written in a very interesting
style in the book. [ page 53 ]
Santosh Bhartiya writes
that the memories associated
with every character in this
book are not mere memories,
but they are documents of the
political period of India
which has been the most stir-
ring. He writes that VP Singh,
Chandrashekhar and Sonia
Gandhi, these three person-
alities were deprived of the
respect which they should
have received. Santosh Bhar-
tiya writes that Sonia Gandhi
should be praised that even
the greed of becoming the
Prime Minister could not
tempt her. Her wisdom made
the UPA run for ten years. If
she wanted, instead of Nar-
asimhaRao,sheherself could
have become the Prime Min-
ister. [ page 471]
Santosh Bhartiya writes
that Bhairo Singh Shekhawat
was one of the most impor-
tantleadersof thecountry
.He
writes, “A few incidents that
took place during Janmorcha
days which never came in
public. One day I got a call
from Bhairo Singh Shekawat
from Jaipur that he wanted to
meet me. He knew me from
the days I was with Ravivar’.
While he was the Chief Min-
ister I had covered many re-
ports connected with Ra-
jasthan. After reaching
Jaipur, I phoned one of my
friends, Rajendra Chavda,
who was one the worthy jour-
nalists of those days. I went to
Bhairo Singh’s residence
along with him. Ten minutes
were gone when I was talking
to Bhairo Singh and he ex-
pressed his desire to meet VP
Singh and just after four days
he reached Delhi and gave me
a call. That morning, I took
him to VP Singh’s residence
in Lodhi estate. VP Singh was
waiting for him over break-
fast. [ page 123]
Bhairo Singh heartily ap-
preciateVPSingh’scampaign
against the corruption and
very humbly proposed that
Atalji and him would join his
campaign anytime. Bhairo
Singh held no doubts in the
success of this campaign ac-
tually
. Santosh Bhartiya men-
tions the phenomenal reply
VP Singh gave! He replied,
“yes, Atal ji had called me up
in support of my campaign,
but I want to request you and
Atal ji that this is just a begin-
ning of this campaign and in
fact I am not sure that what
would be the result”, and he
further said smilingly to him,
“both of you, are the eminent
and important leaders of the
country, don’t join this cam-
paign of uncertainty, do join
when it reaches at a decisive
stage”. The same words he
said to Jaswant Singh as well
whenheproposedtojoin.San-
tosh Bhartiya writes very
honestly that, “had it been the
current time than anyone
would have used it as tool of
propaganda but it was never
beenspokenbyeitherof them
everinlife;sinceIwasthewit-
ness of these exceptional mo-
ments so I can say that and
moreover on many instances
VP Singh had a talk with Atal
Bihari Vajpai, Bhairo Singh
Shekhawat and Jaswant Sin-
gh and these three have given
genuine advises and had
helped him too many times.” [
page 124]
It is one the most beautiful-
ly
, non-politically written po-
litical history
.
The book falls under Mod-

. The editor of this
book Fauzia Arshi, who is a

has written so well that after

New Delhi : Janata Dal
(United) national gen-
eral secretary KC Tyagi
on Sunday said the par-
ty’s first priority is to
contest Manipur and Ut-
tar Pradesh elections in
an alliance with the BJP
while adding that JD(U)
will contest indepen-
dently in case there no
alliance is formed.
Speaking to ANI, Tyagi
said, “JD(U) will contest
elections in Manipur
and Uttar Pradesh. Our
first priority is to con-
test forming an alliance
with BJP. We will con-
test independently in
case there no alliance is
made.” The JD(U) had
not contested the Uttar
Pradesh Assembly elec-
tions in 2017. The as-
sembly polls in Uttar
Pradesh and Manipur
are due early next year.
Tyagi’sremarkscame
after newly appointed
JD(U) national presi-
dent and party MP Rajiv
Ranjan Singh on Satur-
day made it clear that
the party is capable of
contesting elections
alone without being de-
pendent on allies.“We
aim to make JD(U) a na-
tional party
. I have held
discussions with party
leaders in Manipur and
Uttar Pradesh. We will
hold discussions with
NDA partners. If they
do not make us a part-
ner in these states, we
will fight and win the
elections alone,” said
the JD(U) President
while addressing party
workers. The JD(U) is
an ally of the BJP in Bi-
har and the party’s RCP
Singh had been induct-
ed into the union coun-
cil of ministers when

Rajiv Ranjan Sin-

a time when opposition
parties are in delibera-
tion to form a united
front against the
Bharatiya Janata Party

Lok Sabha polls.
Asked to comment
on the JD(U) national

Mayawati soft pedals BJP in UP but pushes for caste census
Anita Hada
Lucknow: The Bahu-
jan Samaj Party chief
Mayawati, who has
been trying to regain
lost ground in the
state, has announced
to support to any ini-
tiative by the NDA gov-
ernment to launch
caste census in the
country. The former
chief minister who has
been soft pedalling the
BJP, has also vigorous-
ly launched Brahmin
conferences all over
the state.
While announcing
her support to caste
census, Mayawati said
if the NDA govern-
ment takes any deci-
sion her party would
support it inside and
outside the Parlia-
ment. Mayawati, who
had tweeted her com-
ments are being seeing
in the political circle
as her soft pedalling of
the BJP. In the last Lok
Sabha election in 2019
Mayawati had entered
into electoral alliance
with Samajwadi Party
had and succeeded in
winning 10 seats. How-
ever immediately after
the election results,
she had broken the al-
liance with the SP.
Mayawati’s political
graph has been con-
sistently declining
since 2014 Large num-
ber of her senior party
leaders- Ram AchalRa-
jbhar, Nasimuddin
Siddique etc have left
the BSP for pasture
elsewhere. She had
won just 19 seats in
2017 assembly elec-
tions. Today situation
has reached such a
pass that after large
scale desertion only
seven MLAs are left in
the party. Mayawati
had entered into alli-
ance with the BJP
twice to form the gov-
ernment.
Mayawati had tested
this social engineering
formula in 2007 assem-
bly elections when she
had come to power
with full majority.
However then Muslim
community was also
part of the alliance and
had helped the BSP to
dislodge Mulayam Sin-
gh government from
the power.
Now Mus-
lim com-
muni-
ty because of her soft
posturing towards the
BJP during the last few
years has distanced it-
self from the BSP.
In order to win sup-
port of
t h e
Brahmin community,
the BSP has decided to
organise Brahmin con-
ferences all over the
state-which will com-
mence from Ayodhya
known as “Hindutav
hotbed” in the state
with octopus like
grip of the BJP over
it. In 2007 while SC
Mishra was mas-
cot of Brahmin
c o m m u n i t y
Nasimuddin Sid-
dique was Mus-
lim face in the
party and parallel
Muslim confer-
ences were or-
ganised by him all over
the state. However,
Mayawati had ex-
pressed her displeas-
ure publicly with Sid-
dique over “Muslim
community” not sup-
porting the BSP in
2017. There is feeling in
political circle that she
had been trying to stall
SP’s march against the
BJP. Mayawati said
with the support of the
Brahmin community
the BSP had formed
the government in
2007. The BSP had
then fielded 86 Brah-
min candidates and 41
had won. Later in 2012
out of 74 candidates 10
had won. The commu-
nity had migrated to
Samajwadi Party and
in 2017 she could en-
sure victory of only
three Brahmins
out of 66 candidates as
the community had
gone to BJP. Now
Mayawati’s stand to
woo Brahmins is also
seen as an attempt to
make up for Muslim
vote which is likely to
drift towards SP amid
Akhilesh Yadav’s si-
lent minority outreach.
However not ignor-
ing the Dalit commu-
nity Mayawati said she
was proud of the SC
community which was
not influenced by the
BJP or the other oppo-
sition parties voted en
bloc for the BSP in 2017
assembly elections.
She said it was because
of Dalits that her party
cornered a vote share
of 22.23% in 2017 which
was more than SP’s
21.82%. Mayawati said
Dalit community did
not fall into trap of BJP
which organised “Kh-
ichdi bhoj” to lure
them away or the Con-
gress ploy to win over
the community. She
said they joined the kh-
ichdi bhop or other
programme organised
by the rival parties but
in the election they
voted for the BSP. How-
ever, despite tall claims
of Mayawati there has
of late been migration
of dalit community to
the BJP. While her core
vote of “Jatavs” which
is around 12% percent
in the community con-
tinues to be with her,
other segments Pasi,
dhobi, Valmikis and
others have largely
moved to the BJP. It is
for this BJP has been
playing Dalit card mi-
nus Jatavs.
A SERIOUS THREAT TO OPPOSITION UNITY IN UP
New Delhi: Custodial
torture and other police
atrocities still prevail
in India and even the
“privileged are not
spared third-degree
treatment”, Chief Jus-
tice of India N V Rama-
na said on Sunday and
asked the National Le-
gal Services Authority
(NALSA) to carry out
“nationwide sensitisa-
tion of police officers”.
Terming the project
“Access to Justice” as
an “unending mission”,
the CJI also said that for
becoming a society gov-
erned by the rule of law,
it was necessary to
“bridge the gap of ac-
cessibility to justice be-
tween the highly privi-
leged and the most vul-
nerable”. “If, as an in-
stitution, the judiciary
wants to garner the
faith of the citizens, we
have to make everyone
feel assured that we ex-
ist for them. For the
longest time, the vul-
nerable population has
lived outside the system
of justice,” he said.
Besides this, he said
that the prevailing ob-
stacles like internet
connectivity and
lengthy, painstaking
and expensive justice
processes add to the
woes of realising the
goals of “access to jus-
tice” in India.

Jaipur: Politics is all
about momentum; Mo-
mentum of belief and
trust people have in any
leader or a party
. If ana-
lysed closely
, it could be
observed that the BJP
has been reaping bene-
fits of this momentum
since 2014 onwards.
However, in recent
times, the saffron par-
ty’s behemoth walk
seems to have slowed
down, especially after
its loss and TMC and
Mamata Banerjee’s
massive win in West
Bengal which shifted
the momentum towards
Didi.
As a result, she gave a
clarion call for the oppo-
sition to unite if the par-
ties actually wanted to
bring BJP down. This
came about after Mama-
ta’s victory ensured that
she has a ‘measure’ of
the momentum in her
favor and thus started
Didi’s bid to become the
face of the united oppo-
sition.
But as much as poli-
tics is about momen-
tum, it is also about be-
ing at the right place at
the right time. In this
case, Didi, who was in
Kolkata, over 1,500 kms
away from the political
capital of the nation,
could not beat former
Congress President Ra-
hul Gandhi, who lives
in New Delhi, and has
suddenly become active
in spearheading the op-
position attacks on the
Modi government.
Even though she called
for unification of anti-
BJP parties, it was Ra-
hul who actually car-
ried out the meet, be-
fore Didi could set foot
in Delhi, thus taking a
significant advantage
over Mamata in the
‘tussle’ for becoming
the face of opposition
alliance.
In fact, political ob-
servers are unsure as
of now, whether it was
Didi’s ‘first strike’ or
Prashant Kishor’s
strategy that has forced
the hand of an other-
wise reluctant Gandhi
scion, to plunge head
first into the murky wa-
ters of active politics;
far from his passive po-
litical lifestyle.
And therefore, even
though TMC MPs
snatched Foreign min-
ister’s reply in the Par-
liaments and tore it
while also assuring
that the House does not
function, it is Congress
and other parties, who
seem to be on the upper
ground than TMC in
public opision, simply
because these leaders
did not go to extremes.
Moreover, Rahul has
already ‘headed’ or
rather called two im-
portant meetings of op-
position leaders, one of
which was attended by
TMC MPs too, but that
was considered a mere
eyewash.
There is a grapevine
in New Delhi circles
that political strategist
Prashant Kishor, in the
run-up tp 2024 general
election, has asked Ra-
hul to increase his me-
dia presence, and
hence the Rahul met
farmers, drove a trac-
tor to Parliament, rode
a cycle and staged pro-
test within the Parlia-
ment premises. Rather
tactfully, he has not
said a word in the
house but remained
visible, addressing is-
sues or being vocal,
only within certain pa-
rameters and never go-
ing beyond.
Therefore the careful
‘aesthetic dwarfing’ of
Mamata and TMC but
keeping it present in
the unified political
arena, is the need of the
hour for Congress and
Rahul Gandhi for po-
litical revival, because
if they can not keep
themselves entrenched
at the top, the party and
surely the future of the
Gandhi family, will
soon be a mere history
in the pages of old tales.
Moreover, Rahul has already ‘headed’ or rather called two important
meetings of opposition leaders, one of which was attended by TMC
MPs too, but that was considered a mere eyewash

Ahi-tech copycat woman has
been caught giving the UP
Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT)
examination in Jaunpur district.
This woman was giving paper
with the help of solver through
electronic device by putting nano
earphones in the hair clip. During
this, the room inspection caught
the woman red handed. Police is
probing the electronic device

examinations continued at 21
centers in the district. Around 33
thousand candidates gave paper
at these centres. The first shift
exam started at 9:30 am.
Meanwhile, TGT examination
was going on in Raj College

solving the paper after talking to
someone. On hearing the sound
of conversation, the room
inspector got suspicious. The
invigilators called the lady
constable and got the accused
Sonal Mishra searched.
Thereafter, the Principal of the
college was informed.
Sonal Mishra was searched by
the female constable. Meanwhile,
nano SIM was found in his hair
clip. A small ear phone was
hidden in the ear of the female
candidate, with the help of which
she was talking to the solver.
When she talked to the solver,
her voice could be heard in the

First India Bureau
Lucknow: Investiga-
tion into seized drug
worth Rs. 686 crores on
August 3 in Jamui Kala,
a village on the Nepal
border in Maharajganj
district has revealed
connection with inter-
national smuggling.
In the joint investiga-
tion of ATS, Police,
Custom and Drug De-
partment, the names of
two brothers of Siswa’s
drug dealer who own
two shops in Gorakh-
pur has been revealed.
Govind Gupta, the
main accused in this
case who is said to be
close to an MP from
Nepal has reportedly
fled to Nepal fearing
action against him.
Since the incident, his
photo with Nepal’s MP
has also surfaced and
the police who have
been trying to nab him
for the past 4 days have
no idea where he is
now. The district ad-
ministration has in the
meantime sized shop
and house and the po-
lice have started inves-
tigating people close
him based on call re-
cords.
The Siswa’s busi-
nessman also has shops
in Gorakhpur. Two of
the shops belonging to
Govind in Gorakhpur
has also come under
the radar of the investi-
gators. Assistant Com-
missioner of Medicine
Ejaz Ahmed said that
the case if serious as
drugs worth more than
Rs. 700 crores have been
seized and it is neces-
sary to break the drug
network. He added that
pharmaceutical compa-
nies have been contact-
ed as the names of dif-
ferent manufacturing
companies are in-
scribed on the recov-
ered medicines. He fur-
ther added that letters
have been sent to 6 such
companies and infor-
mation has been sought
from them as to which
wholesaler had sent the
order based on the
batch number of medi-
cines which have been

ILLEGAL DRUG BUSINESS
PREVIOUSLY IN A FAKE DRUG NEWS
It is being assumed that the drug dealers (brothers)
used to supply consignments of drugs to Govind by
sourcing it from Nepal. The brothers have 5 shops in the
town and 2 of these shops have always been in discus-
sion for being involved in sale of illegal drugs from the
very beginning. The 2 shops in question have though
been closed from a while the other 3 shops have closed
after the investigation into the drug consignment begun.
The name of the Siswa brother in a drug related case
is not new as previously they have been involved in a
fake medicine case. About five years ago, a consign-
ment of fake antibiotic medicine from Aliganj has been
caught in Siswa and even at that the names of these
brothers had come up who managed to escape from it
with the connivance of the drug department.

Lucknow: A fraud case
has been registered
against Ola Cab and Ma-
hindra First Choice
Company in Lucknow
after 759 drivers alleged
that Ola secretly sold ve-
hicles for which they
werepayingloaninstall-
ments to Mahindra.
Cab drivers said that
in 2017 Ola started the
scheme in which the
driver used to deposit
Rs. 21,000 rupees as de-
posit money after which
the company would buy
him a cab. The cab driv-
ers were supposed to
pay Rs. 25,000/ month or
Rs. 830/per day as in-
stallment for 4.5 years
after which the vehicles
would be given to the
cab driver himself.
Due to lockdown,
work of the drivers
was halted and were
unable to pay their in-
stallments so vehicles
were parked on behalf
of Ola company in a
guest house.
Drivers were told
that they will get vehi-
cles back after lock-
down relaxation but
they learned that vehi-
cles were being auc-
tioned in association
with Mahindra First
Choice. Drivers then
met Sohramau SDM

Kanpur: A new twist
has come to the fore in
the three-day-old daugh-
ter-in-law Khushi
Dubey, who was made
an accused in the Bikru
case. Someone on be-
half of Khushi has filed
a petition in Supreme
Court against decision
of High Court.
Whereas Khushi’s
parents and lawyer Shi-
vakant Dixit were una-
ware about this. Neither
any lawyer had been
hired nor they have ap-
pealed in any way in SC.
Khushi’s advocate Shi-
vakant Dixit said at that
time that hope for jus-
tice was not over yet and
Khushi was innocent.
An appeal will be made
to SC against the order
of HC. But so far no
such appeal has been
made, said Shivakant.
He further said, when
the bail was rejected by
HC, we had decided to
approach SC but till now
we have not approached
anyone for appeal.
Khushi’s parents
have not signed any af-
fidavit, the way this case
is being filed, it appears
that there is a conspira-
cybeinghatchedtodeny
justice to an innocent
girl by making her part
of caste politics.
Khushi’s mother Gay-
atri Devi also denied the
appeal of Supreme
Court, saying, “It is all
false news, neither I
went to Delhi in the
meantime nor did I con-
tact any lawyer regard-
ing the appeal.” All this
is a political conspiracy
under which my daugh-

PM’S BID TO BOOST AGRI
MODITORELEASENEXTINSTALLMENTOFPMKISANNIDHI
First India Bureau
Lucknow: The Central
and the State govern-
ment are striving hard
to transform the lives
of farmers and making
them self-reliant and
prosperous.
Working with full
zeal for achieving the
target of doubling
farmers’ income, the
Prime Minister Naren-
dra Modi will transfer
Rs 4,720 crore to 2.36
crore farmers of the
state under the Prad-
han Mantri Kisan Sam-
man Nidhi Yojana on
August 9.
Rs 2000 will be given
to each farmer for the
months of August, Sep-
tember, October and
November. The fund
will be directly trans-
ferred to the bank ac-
counts of the benefi-
ciaries.
Under the Pradhan
Mantri Kisan Samman
Nidhi Yojana of the
Central Government,
around 18 lakh farmers
have been given Rs
32,500 crore. Those
farmers are also in-
cluded in this who
have received the
funds for one time and
also those who have
received it for 8 times
in a row. Notably, the
9th installment of
the scheme will be
released on Mon-
day.
Similarly, more
than 2 crore farm-
ers are associated
with the Pradhan Man-
tri Fasal Bima Yojana
and a compensation of
Rs 2,208 crore has been
given to more than
25.60 lakh farmers un-
der this scheme.
CM Yogi has always
been working for the
welfare of farmers in
the State, unlike the
other previous govern-
ments. For the first
time in the state, more
than 433.86 lakh metric
tonnes of food grains
have been procured by
the government and
more than Rs 78,000
crore has been paid
to 78,23,357 farmers.
So far, a crop loan
of Rs 3,58,000 crores
has been distributed
to the farmers. The
government has also
waived a loan amount-
ing to Rs 36,000
crore of 86
l a k h
small and marginal
farmers.
Farmers’ welfare
has been the top most
priority of the State
Government which
had hardly been done
in any government be-
fore. During the four
and a half hyear ten-
ure, CM Yogi has given
more amount to the
farmers than the an-
nual budget of the state
through various
schemes.
In the history of the
State, no other govern-
ment has given even
half of the annual
budget to the farmers
since independence. Re-
cord payment of Rs.6
,80,708 crore has been
made to the farmers by
the state government
under various
heads. If the steps
taken by the gov-
ernment in the
interest of farm-
ers and the
amount given un-
der various heads
are added, then
this amount can
reach upto Rs 10
lakh crores.
The Yogi
government has trans-
formed the sugarcane
sector in Uttar Pradesh
with its commitment
to pay every penny of
the sugarcane farm-
ers. Over 45.74 lakh
sugarcane farmers in
Uttar Pradesh have
been paid a record
cane price payment of
more than Rs 1,40,000
crore between 2017-
2021 which indicates
the pro-farmer stance
of the government.
Adityanath govern-
ment and the state now
ranks first in sugar
production in the
country.
Under which new
sugar mills were start-
ed in Pipraich-Munder-
wa. The capacity of the
closed Ramala Sugar
Mill was increased and
was made operational.
The closed sugar mills
of Sambhal and Saha-
ranpur are also operat-
ing now.
Apart from this,
the capacity of 11
private mills was
also increased.

Wave sugar
mills were made

ing closed for

Rajbhar said, “The
public is angry with the

. If the SP comes for-

smaller parties and re-
gional parties, then the
election results can
change.”
“If the SP ties up with
the SBSP
, then the BJP
will not get even a single

There will be fight (with
the BJP) on only two

former UP minister add-

claimed that of the total
403seatsintheassembly
,
there are 150 seats in

.
When asked as to
which party in the state
can defeat the BJP
, he
said, “People of the state
feel that it is only the SP
that can challenge the
BJP in UP
. The BSP too
has started making
moves, but the craze of
the BSP is not as intense
as that of the SP”.
Onbeingaskedwheth-
er the SBSP has been un-
able to take forward the
agreements with other
parties since its forma-
tion in 2002, Rajbhar
said, “When there is a
clashof vestedinterests,
people tend to go away
.
The smaller parties face
financial hardships, and
it is because of this rea-

YOGI GOVERNMENT FOR FARMERS
PM NARENDRA MODI
10. hen did you decide you
wanted to become a re-
porter and how did you
work towards your aim?
Ans: While going to the col-
lege daily I would listen to
the FM stations and decid-
ed that I wanted to become an RJ. I start-
ed my career with Bhaskar MyFM and
worked for two years before deciding
to move on to TV as a reporter to
broaden my perspective. To further
my aim, I got admission to St. Xavi-
er’s, Mumbai for my Masters in jour-
nalism. I realised with a shock that I
was woefully behind the times be it
in communication or knowledge of
politics, the bywords for journalism
in the audio-visual media. After being
depressed for 2 months, I fought back
and started filling up the gaps I had. I
used to read newspapers for 4 hours
and rewrite at least 3 stories daily along
with actively participating in the brain-
storming sessions and discussions go-
ing around in the college campus.
Who is your biggest source of moti-
vation in the news industry?
During the course of my career, I have
been motivated by many senior col-
leagues and even inexperienced jour-
nalists. This profession in itself is the
biggest motivation and I love that every
day is a new day
. I meet new people on a
daily basis, it keeps me on my toes, I
have to constantly be on top of things,
be it news or analysis and the challeng-
es keep me alert.
The one single person who moti-
vates me to do better than own self
and also from whom I learned the
‘ropes of journalism’ is my boss and
mentor, Jagdeesh Chandra.
How do you keep yourself constant-
ly up to date with the ‘breaking news
every minute’ world that we are liv-
ing in now?
I try to stay up-to-date by reading news-
papers both online and offline, staying
connected to sources and using technol-
ogy intelligently to filter important
news and the old and ancient method of
‘keeping my eyes and ears open.’
In the news world, ‘sources’ are su-
preme, what is your message to
young reporters on how to develop
and then ‘keep’ sources?
For a journalist information is power.
And the ‘sources’ who give this informa-
tion are the ‘Supreme Power’. A source
is developed gradually with trust and
bonding and to ‘keep’ a source, a jour-
nalist must go to any length to protect
the ‘source’.
What are the two most important
things for a reporter to always keep
in mind?
The most important thing for a reporter
to remember is the ‘Break News First’
Rule and along with that ‘Credibility’ is
as important. We have to be responsible
for each word we utter and write and
stand by it!
What is your message to the young
reporters of today?
Choose wisely, journalism is not just a
job, I believe it is a responsibility that
we have to fulfil. We are the pillars of
democracy
. If you want to be successful
in this fraternity - enhance your percep-
tion and intelligence. The rest will fall
in place . Also, maintain a daily regime
to be fit and healthy, this is not a 9 to 5
job.
As the days pass, I promise myself
that in my lifetime, I will do my utmost
to establish credible journalism and
strive every day to be better than I was
the previous day
.
