2. Brainwashing
A Method of changing attitudes and beliefs
by using torture, drugs or psychological
ways.
3. Anthem
In the book there are
many signs of
brainwashing through
false statements
which the people in
Anthem have thought
to be true.
4. I
They were taught that they
couldn’t speak in about
themselves in singular
manner.
It is said that no man can be
alone.
It says “We are one in all and
all in one. There are no men
but only the great WE, One,
indivisible and forever.”
5. Community schedule
After listening to
speeches about the work
place they go and watch
plays about the how work
is so great.
The bell ringing tells them
when to start and stop
doing what they are
supposed to be doing in
their daily lives.
6. 1984
Winston was tortured to the point were the he believed
anything they told him.
The government also broadcasted false information.
People believed what the government said.
Also the people had to follow a certain schedule.
They had to tell them what to believe.
Big brother is the symbol of the overlord.
They also have to salute when they see a picture of big
brother.
7. Brainwashing and utopias
As seen in both 1984 and Anthem brainwashing occurs.
Both are good examples because they are very similar.
Both they were tortured to believe what the government
wanted them to believe.
Winston gave in and believed what the government
wanted him to believe.
In Utopias they use brainwashing to make the society
believe what they want.
