3. Newark is experiencing a burgeoning renaissance. With features in such publications as the NY Times,
Associated Press, Vogue Magazine and NJ.com, it only makes sense to use its publicity to catapult the
Greater Newark Convention and Visitor’s Bureau into a social realm of its own. With our 50k in 50 Days
campaign approaching, we feel the use of video will help us to tap into an audience we have previously
been unable to reach.
The What’s Happening Wednesday Series will increase Newark Happening’s social presence
dramatically. We plan to use the content on Facebook (and boost the posts) to increase engagement
and Youtube to re-brand the channel. We will use brief previews on Instagram to tease viewers for
upcoming episodes as well, bringing the Instagram audience to our other social networks and increasing
traffic on each platform.
We currently promote many landmarks and businesses within Newark but do not have our own
content. Creating this series will not only allow us to have in-house content but create awareness of the
activities and events that occur in Newark.
Some benefits include:
● A What’s Happening Wednesday Hashtag
● Use in 50k campaign
● Increased exposure
● Visual content to capture new audience
● Video to add to content library
● Creating relationships with nearby restaurants, vendors and venues.
