• ApisProtect uses an IOT solution with in-hive sensors, retrofitted into existing beehives, to
unobtrusively monitor honey bee colonies. Collected data is gathered using mobile networks,
then machine learning and big data techniques are applied which provide actionable insights
about colony health, diseases, pests and other important events enabling the beekeeper to
make effective beekeeping decisions.

2018/19, held in accelerator fund; plant in commercial production @ September 2019; Series A

• Hexafly converts brewers’ waste byproducts into insect meal from which insect protein and oil
is extracted, which can be used as fish and poultry feed ingredients. These products are derived
from black soldier fly larvae and are very healthy for fish and with a better performance than
traditional feed like soybeans.

• Founded in 2016
• Invested in seed+ round in 2018, led by Maersk Ventures and Acre Venture Partners. In JDA
discussions with major production line equipment companies.
• Impact Vision applies advanced imaging technology to food supply chains to reduce waste,
quality and food fraud issues. The company’s technology assesses food quality, such as the
freshness of fish, fruit and vegetables, the ripeness of avocados, shelf life prediction, and/or
the presence of foreign objects non-invasively and at production grade speeds, providing 100%
product coverage.

Dec 2018 (held in accelerator fund), in clinical trials with a potential JDA partner
• MicroSynbiotiX is developing a cost-effective oral vaccine to combat infections in aquaculture
and improve global food security which may significantly reduce disease in fin fish and shellfish
and avoid the need for anti-biotics in fish and shellfish feed. The Co. has a patent-pending
technology using micro algae ,which is low cost and easy for the fish farmer to administer,
reducing fish losses and improving health through less antibiotics.

• Founded in 2012
• Invested in 2019, closing out a €6m Series A round which we plan to participate in from this
fund, will convert our SAFE at 1.25X uplift (held in accelerator fund)
• Microgen Biotech has developed a unique range of biologicals based on healthy bacteria that
restore the soil’s natural microbiome, improving yields and reducing the uptake of heavy
metals into plants. This reduces toxic heavy metals in our foods when applied to crops by
farmers during the growing season, or as a seed treatment. It is also used for bioremediation
on lands that were polluted with industrial waste, mining and hydrocarbons to decontaminate
them and restore them to productive use.

• Invested in round in 2017 together with angel investors and syndicates, follow on round 2018
(held in accelerator fund); closing out a €5m Series A round which we plan to participate in from
this fund, which will see a 3.1X uplift in our investment
• Rootwave is developing a range of products that can kill and control weeds using electricity,
effectively offering an alternative to herbicides and chemicals and supporting organic farming.
These include an amenity product, a domestic product for home use, an automated tractor-
based product for larger scale farmers, and an autonomous weeding robot, which are safe and
effective.

• Country: France
• Founded in 2014
• Invested in Series A round in 2018, led by BPI and Demeter. Hitting milestones. Series B planned
2020.
• Sencrop is a French precision ag company which has over 5,000 farmers in 10 countries around
Europe using its sensor device to track real time weather information, enabling farmers to
improve their decision making on key decisions such as planting, irrigation, application of
fertilizers and herbicides. Sencrop creates a network of connected farmers and enables all
players in the value chain to integrate, allowing effective, fast and automated distribution of
services, advice and inputs tailored to farmers’ specific needs.
