David Faddis, MD
Dr. Faddis is a board-certified general surgeon at Samaritan Surgical Specialists in Corvallis, Ore., who
specializes in surgical oncology and breast surgery. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of
California at San Diego and a medical degree from the University of Southern California. He completed a
surgical internship and residency at the University of Southern California Medical Center in Los Angeles. He
also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in surgical oncology at Tulane University School of Medicine in
New Orleans.
Mary Austin-Seymour, MD, FASTRO
Dr. Austin-Seymour is a radiation oncologist at the Samaritan Regional Cancer Center in Corvallis, Ore. She
completed residency training at Northwestern University and Stanford. She established a career in academic
medicine at Harvard University and University of Washington until 2006 when she moved to Corvallis. She
has served as Vice Chairman at the University of Washington Medical Center. Her academic clinical expertise
was in breast cancer as well as head and neck cancer. Dr. Austin-Seymour is listed with Best Doctors in
America from 1998 through the present, and she currently serves in leadership positions within ASTRO.
Elizabeth Shiner, MSc
Elizabeth Shiner is a board-certified medical physicist at the Samaritan Regional Cancer Center in Corvallis,
Ore. She received a bachelor’s degree in applied physics from Linfield College and became a certified nuclear
medicine technologist through Oregon Health & Science University. She went on to receive a master’s degree
in medical physics from the University of Wisconsin. Elizabeth has received honors as a physics scholar and
Cum Laude graduate from Linfield College.
Jan Spencer, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C
Jan Spencer is a lead oncology social worker at the Samaritan Regional Cancer Center in Corvallis, Ore. She
is a licensed clinical social worker, a certified oncology social worker and certified family life educator. Jan
received bachelor’s degrees in family studies and psychology as a Summa Cum Laude graduate from Corbin
University in Salem. She went on to receive a Master of Social Work at Portland State University. She was
involved for several years as a counselor and oncology social worker at the Northwest Cancer Specialists
Foundation in Portland, Ore. Jan is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the
American Pain Society and the Association for Death Education and Counseling.
