Program Description & Objectives
Conflicting screening mammography guidelines continue to confuse primary
care providers and patients regarding the proper use of mammography for breast
cancer screening. This program is intended for primary care providers who need
continuing education on this and other issues regarding breast cancer surveillance.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be better able to:
β’ Define proper ordering practices for breast imaging services.
β’ Identify high risk patients and risk assessment tools.
β’ Identify proper age groups for screening mammography.
β’ Identify risk factors for breast cancer.
β’ Identify risk assessment tools which are available to the patient and referent.
β’ Identify the mammographic signs of breast cancer.
β’ Discuss current state-of-the-art minimally invasive needle biopsy diagnosis.
