Based in the UK, but working worldwide, AMO specialises in advising businesses
on how to start up a franchise, how to grow their franchise network and (when
the time comes) how to franchise internationally.
Our goal is to help our clients businesses become profitable, sustainable and
ethical through franchising. We have the experience and to make this goal a real-
ity.
Professional History
I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1981 and spent 13 years in private prac-
tice as a business advisor and corporate finance practitioner. Over the last 18
years I have developed a particular expertise in franchising and have acted for
franchisors in a variety of sectors.
An active member of the British Franchise Association (bfa), I was awarded an
honorary Qualified Franchise Professional (QFP) qualification and sit on the final
assessment panel for candidates finishing their academic study. I have been a
judge of the bfa’s annual Franchisor of the Year Awards on a number of occa-
sions.

Baguette Express: Designed and implemented a complete franchise concept for
a successful fast food operator now with over 70 franchisees.
GoCruise: Designed and implemented a complete franchise concept for a suc-
cessful home-based cruise sales travel agency that was owned by Carnival
Corporation and was purchased by Fred. Olsen cruise line and currently has
a network of 50 franchisees.
Smart Cartridge: Advised the company on the content of their Operations Man-
ual and on successfully recruiting and controlling their franchise network
with 64 units in 5 countries.
Razzamatazz: Development of a franchise system for a children’s theatre school
that has 40 franchisees across the UK.
Marks & Spencer: Development of alternative business models including UK
based “Simply Foods” franchise and review of International franchise opera-
tions
Metro-Rod: Review of operating processes and preparation of new operations
manual for established franchisor with 43 franchisees
Thornton's: Reviewed performance of existing network of 250 franchised units
across the UK resulting in a more sharply focused approach to developing
the units’ performance.
Whittard of Chelsea: Review, benchmarking and assessment of franchise system
for premium retailer with franchise partners in 9 countries.
Debenhams: Development of systems & procedures for international franchis-
ing. They now have 60 stores in 23 countries.
Salon Services: Designed and implemented franchise system for wholesaling
company that was subsequently voted Franchise Newcomer of the Year. The
company was sold for £35million.
