Subject: Endorsement Letter for Ethan Kaplan
I’d like to take this opportunity to provide a letter of recommendation for hiring Ethan
Kaplan: A young designer that I would describe as extremely likable, great to work with and a
team player who brings much more to the table than most.
I hired Ethan for an internship shortly after he graduated from Indiana University. He had
been referred to me by a colleague who had known him and his family for many years.
Although it originally was my intention to find someone for a few months to help with a
production bottleneck, I ended up extending the internship to almost nine months because
of all the extra value he brought.
Ethan is one of those people that you will instantly like. He is dependable, a great co-worker
you can count on for doing his part and more. All that was terrific, but what I discovered
about him that tuned out to be his most valuable asset, was his big picture view of a project.
His knack for problem solving and asking the right questions was a real bonus for us.
The more space and scope of input I gave Ethan, the more his ideas and thought provoking
comments he would provide. He always delivered beyond just the production and layout or
design he was originally asked to create.
In fact, one of his preliminary concepts for our firm’s Website redesign helped set the
direction for how we created some of the site mapping and navigation set ups. All the
graphics used to depict our firm’s financial and investment planning processes, both on our
Website and in our marketing collateral materials, were created by Ethan.
He is very well versed in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. He has developed into a strong
copywriter as well. He’s one of these young talents that bring a lot of intangibles, expanding
his use and value to an organization. Had we had enough work and a budget for a full time
permanent position, I would have hired him in that capacity.
If you are considering hiring Ethan and would like to discuss in more detail, please contact
me at 312-505-5292 or mark@themazurgroup.com.
Sincerely,
Mark D. Mazur
