• Narrator:
• Gang culture among young people is nothing new. Youth gangs have
been a major part of the urban cultural landscape since at least the
1830s, when Charles Dickens described Fagin's pack of young boys
roaming the streets of London in Oliver Twist.
• However, gangs have taken on a different character and have
moved into areas unimagined by Dickens. Most significantly, they are
spreading from inner cities to "edge cities"--cities at the outskirts of
large urban centres--and to suburbs.
• Middle Class societies, seaside towns and rural areas are under
threat. Urban gangs are targeting these areas whilst moving in from

• More children are being arrested for dealing class A drugs than for

experience and further expressing the dangers. (20 second clip)

work will appear.
• Pictures will be dropped on a table by
someone with white gloves – continuing
the theme of gangs – white gloves-
similar to that of those who handle drugs
However,
gangs have
taken on a
different
character and
have moved
into areas
unimagined by
Dickens.
• The word “However” will break the
romantic music as there will be a
brief pause as the drill music will
come back in even more intensely
• The colour scheme fades back into
colour swiftly
• Maybe further archive footage of
gangs
Most significantly, they are

outskirts of large urban
centres--and to suburbs.
• Binary Opposition
• There will be a vertical line splitting
the screen in two halves in which ariel
and scenic shots from London and
southend will be presentend

– mostly seafront
• As soon the narrator says “threat”,
a bag will be slapped on a table
and then another bag covers the
camera – disrupting the peace –
darker lighting
