MARKET UPDATES & STOCK RECOMMENDATION
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) ended slightly lower today, amid mixed sentiment on Asian
equity markets with gains in selected consumer and finance stocks limiting losses. The key index closed
trading 0.82 of a point lower at 1,796.38 points, after hovering between 1,791.38 and 1,801.81 during the
day. A dealer said investors had remained on the sidelines on concerns over the possibility of the US
Federal Reserve ending its bond-buying stimulus this month. "They now prefer lower government bonds,
including Japanese Yen and gold," he added.
The ringgit closed lower against the US dollar today in line with the weaker regional currencies on
growing concerns over sluggish global growth, dealers said. At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at
3.2650/2680 against the greenback compared with 3.2605/2625 on Monday. A dealer said the local unit
rebounded in early trade against the US dollar following a weak performance yesterday but failed to keep
up momentum and erased earlier gains at the close. The ringgit was mixed against other major currencies.
The Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) will upgrade the training and accreditation
of construction personnel next year to meet industry demand in line with the announcement of projects
in the 2015 Budget. Under the 2015 Budget, the government has allocated a development spending of
RM50.5 billion, an increase of 20 per cent compared with RM42.2 billion in 2014 to generate the country's
economic development. CIDB chief executive, Datuk Seri Judin Abdul Karim said the board hoped that all
infrastructure development and housing projects that were announced in the budget could be
implemented successfully in 2015.
The much-awaited Samsung Galaxy Note4 will be available for sale from Friday onwards. In a statement
here today, Samsung Malaysia Electronics said the first 100 customers who purchase a Note4 at
participating Samsung Experience Stores and authorised dealers will receive a complimentary Gear Circle,
a stylish and intuitive necklet that functions as earphones. The Gear Circle is one of many offers available
at a three-day roadshow, it added.
The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI remained mixed at mid-afternoon today, as gains were limited
by losses in selected heavyweights. At 3pm, the key index rose 3.49 points to 1,800.69, after opening 5.31
points lower at 1,791.89 points. Market breadth was negative with decliners outpacing advancers by 745
to 139 while 229 counters were unchanged, 489 untraded and 12 suspended. Turnover stood at 1.51
million units worth RM1.29 billion.
Petronas' Fluid Technology Solutions has once again provided an on-track competitive edge for the
