Technology and Education
The use of technology in schools has a great effect on not only students, but teachers as well. Today, we mostly think of technology as computers, but it
is much more than that. In fact, one of the first technologies used in the classroom was the chalkboard.
Most students today use technology throughout their school day. Uses for technology can be found for every subject matter a student has. Some of the
most widely used tools are found in the English and Language Arts classes. Writing on word processors allows students to cut–and–paste, save their
work, and use spell checkers and thesauruses. With technology students are also given advantages in learning how to read. Reading programs use

Many problems seem almost impossible without them. Technology is also very useful to students in foreign languageeducation, distance education, and
for helping students with special needs.
Technology can help students in all areas of study. Students need to be able to use this technology since, "Currently and in the near future, it is
understood that students need to acquire more autonomous skills of 'information gathering, analysis, and display'" (Todnem, 2004, p. 1). Furthermore,
the use of technology, mainly the internet, provides for variation since "Students find themselves bored and burnt–out of the lecture format to classes,
so changing the curriculum and instruction to include things like online assignments and educational videogames can be one clear remedy" (Todnem,
2004, p. 1). Teachers who have implemented technology into their classrooms have noticed changes in their students. The most common of these
effects being an increase in motivation. In "Effects of Technology on Classrooms and Students" another positive effect is given "technology effect
stressed by many teachers was enhancement of student self esteem" ("Effects," 2004, p. 2).
Technology not only affects students, but also teachers. Resources such as voice mail, email, and the World Wide Web all aid teachers in informing
parents of upcoming events, responding to students and their questions, and searching for information. There are also technology tools

Today, if you enter an average elementary classroom you might find a computer cart with twenty or thirty lap tops, all with hook–up to the internet.
The teacher usually has either a desk top or lap top computer, sometimes both, for keeping track of important information. Technology has, in many
ways, positively impacted the educational field. Michigan has made using technology a necessity. With help from the Freedom to Learn Program,
improvements in classroom technology, and special programs used to assist educators, teachers become familiar with the new technology.
Recently, a press release from the MichiganVirtualUniversity stated, "The Department of Management and Budget ...announced it has finalized a...show

In the 1990s, many classrooms where equipped with six to ten PCs, where children could access educational programs. However, this only allowed
six or ten children to use this type of learning resource at a time. It was even new for the schools to have four or five rooms dedicated for computer
use, with possibly thirty desk tops. This type of technology was used to help student's reinforce what they had learned, and to become familiar with
programs such as Microsoft Word or Works. Now, with wide use of the lap top and increase in the budget, schools can provide carts that hold twenty to
thirty lap tops. Unfortunately, in most school districts these carts must be rented out and there is a limit on how many classrooms can use this
technology at once. Also, a new type of technology used in classroom in my hometown is microphones, which the teacher wears on their shirt or jacket.
The class room is then equipped with surround sound speakers, which ensures that each student can hear and understand the teacher. This type of
technology is a good idea; honestly, there are times now, where it would be nice if professors would wear microphones. The second most influential
technological breakthrough that has impacted education tremendously is the internet. Both teachers and students use the internet to find information
on the World Wide Web, where there are millions of sites of information: some good and others bad. The internet

Technology in the classroom John Dewey, a leader for the progressive movement in education in the United States once said, "If we teach today as we
taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow."
To change the ways of teaching. John Dewey advocated for the proper teaching of children and his ideals still apply today. Although technology can
improve instruction substantially, school districts have to consider the harmful psychological effects, dangers of the Internet, and costs to maintain
electronics. Before using technology in the classroom, schools should consider upfront cost to purpose technology, psychological effects to students,
and opportunities for instructional aid. To start off, schools need to realize the amount they can save in the long run by utilizing technology and lean
away from traditional, old fashioned, hard cover books. When books become outdated and used, schools have to spend endless amounts to replace
them. To avoid this, schools can take the initiate and work proactively and replace hard cover books with electronics to avoid unnecessary expenses.
An example of this occurred at Empire High School which recently made a switch from textbooks even though, "it wasn't because of a funding crisis."
(Source A) Empire High School shows just how well technology can work. Not only does technology help in saving necessary funding, it adds a sure
convenience factor to the students and teachers by not having to drag around large and expensive textbooks.

Technology And The Field Of Education Essay
With improved living conditions, healthcare, communication, and evolution of human intelligence, technological advancement in the world today has
grown to unprecedented levels. For example, as a result of technology, patients can remotely interact with medics located in different parts of the
world through telehealth/telemedicine. In the field of education, students do not necessarily need to visit libraries to access books. There are several
soft copies of books online that they can access from the comfort of their desktop computers, laptops, or even mobile phones. On a more advanced
level, learning does not necessarily have to occur only through reading books and other traditionally accepted academic sources. The internet is awash
with educational information that is typically the most up to date source. In her article "Project Classroom Makeover," Davidson discusses the potential
shift in paradigm presented by technological advancement in the field of education. She argues that with technological advancement, it is no longer
necessary to have students sit in class and wait to be guided, instructed, and examined by experts. On the other side, Sherry Turkle discusses the human
–machine interaction in her work "Selections from Alone Together: Why We Expect More fromTechnology and Less from Each Other" as an aspect of
the changing paradigm. Nafisi's article "Selection from Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books" then presents a society deficient of modern

Technology has revolutionized the way in which all humans go about their daily lives. In every second of every day, our world and way of life
becomes more developed and dependant on technology for the basic needs of human existences. Whether it is at home, work, school, walking down the
street, or listening to music, technology has allowed people to do things better, faster, and more efficiently. As the world continues to explode withnew
technology being developed and current technology being refined, the emphasis on technology in education will be increasingly important. Technology

The more informed and better prepared the teacher is, the more effective they become in developing the minds of the students.
What is good for the development of the teachers is equally if not more vital to the students. There have been thousands of studies calculating the effect
that technology has on the learning process. One of these studies was done by the Milken Family Foundation and Education Week in West Virginia, the
first state to do a statewide learning program and test for its effectiveness. It is stated in the results that the effective use of technological programs can
and does "advance both the basic skills of reading, writing, and mathematics as well as students' ability to think critically and creatively." In a different
study conducted by James Kulik, a research scientist at the Center for Research and Learning at the University of Michigan that has done well over 100
studies comparing classrooms that used computer aided education with classrooms that did not, stated that "students in the computer using classrooms
learned more and learned it faster"(www.edweek.org). The more accurate information thateducators can give to students and the faster the students

Technology has revolutionized the human experience by changing the way one learns. Technology can best be defined as a tool that supports and
promotes human learning. This can be seen through the usage of calculators, tablets (example: iPad), Smart Boards, video cameras, and, of course, the
computer. These are all innovations that can have a profound impact on classroomlearning. Although there are some schools that have a strict policy
that technology should be removed from the modern day classroom, other schools believe that integrating technology into the classroom helps prepare
our students for the elaborate world they will face going forward. Throughout this essay, I will be focusing on the technology policy and how it has a

Subjects that might be monotonous for some – like math and science – can be much more engaging with virtual lessons, tutoring, and the streaming of
educational videos (Khan, 2012, p. 17). This carries tremendous weight for me. As a student who struggled with Math, the best way that I learned was
through computer games because it was fun and interesting to me. When students are given the opportunity to learn at their pace, stress levels are
managed and scores are increasingly higher because the student is given the opportunity to grow their confidence and complete the task at hand without
feeling any pressure. With the integration of technology, students get direct, individualized instruction from the computer. This form of supplemental
teaching allows them to engage with the information at times that are most convenient for them and helps them become more self–directed in the
learning process. It also gives the teacher more time to accomplish classroom objectives, while freeing them up to help the students who might be
struggling with certain lessons. It is crucial that students are not just being educated in only one way. Each child is different; as a result, learning styles
should be versatile and open to new strategies. By learning to use technology correctly, teachers are preparing themselves, and the students for the
future by developing certain skills that will be essential in the 21st century. Besides developing the students' technology skills, students will

Technology affects every aspect of our lives. From romance to business, it has shown its presence everywhere. But technology has had a huge impact
on education that cannot be denied, and has done nothing but improve the quality and quantity of education.
Today, schools are being pressured more and more to improve the technology they use and teach in the classrooms. Parents are placing this pressure on
schools so that their students have the skills needed to compete in the real world job market. Students are placing pressure on the schools to improve
technology by having more knowledge of current technology than the school's staff. Teachers in turn are placing emphasis on the schools to...show more

This frees up time for teachers to address more serious issues in the classroom and allows students more time to work on their project, instead of
having to spend large quantities of time going over their project with the teacher. Also, programs such as PowerPoint and other graphic arts programs
allow students to illustrate their literary works and by creating them on the computer, it makes it much simpler for the students to publish their own
work on the internet. When it comes to learning how to improve reading skills, many programs exist, one of the better being Reader Rabbit, which
uses games to disguise drill–and–practice routines to help students improve reading ability. All of these are examples of how technology has positively
affected Language Arts education.
Science education has also been affected however. Computer programs like BioPac, used here on LSSU's campus, help collect data and analyze it.
Experiments that normally would not have been able to be accomplished or ones that would have required great lengths of time can now easily be
completed in a matter of minutes. Also, internet resources can help provide ideas for experiments, with instructions on how to complete them often,
and also will provide forums for students to exchange and discuss results with each other. In response to students feelings of uneasiness about dissecting

Can you imagine a classroom so technologically advanced that every student had access to flat–screen computers, palm pilots, high–tech laboratories,
electronic toys, laptops, video games, on–line class sessions and help, chat rooms, and other emerging technologies? Wouldn't it be fun to learn in that
type of an environment! Essentially, the purpose of this research paper is to explore and evaluate how public education effectively incorporates use of
these and other advances in technology to meet classroom demands with innovative technique. I begin by examining how schools have used

While announcement and discussion boards vary from a traditional chalkboard in appearance and media, they still function much in the same way that a
chalkboard does. Announcement and discussion boards provide information to the students using a visual display that the students have unlimited
access to. Announcement boards are online websites that function as a chat–room in which students are able to view information any time they want
from any computer that has internet access. They are also able to communicate more effectively using the discussion board regardless if the class
session has ended (CIAT brochure, 2002). Nevertheless, jumping ahead into the 1950's and 60's we now have the radio (1920's), movies, and
television, which drastically change the appearance of education (PBS, 2000). It is easy to comprehend how these devices have been integrated into the
classroom and even outside of the classroom. Take, for example, the children's television show Sesame Street, which is educational in nature. This
show, which began in 1969, was created to teach preschoolers skills that would help them succeed in their early elementary years (anonymous, 2002).
This is an excellent demonstration of an effectively integrated educational tool into public education, even outside of the classroom. This is just one of
many ways that technology proves to provide our students with cutting edge advantages and opportunities. And with the

Currently technology plays a significant role in life. In today's society, children are exposed to technology everywhere. Technology is in homes, offices
and schools. Technology is full of stimuli and requires paying attention to many different things at once (Dhruvin, 2017). Some parents have given their
kids ipad or smartphones for entertainment at some point. Researchers are trying to see if technology and school education influences children's
cognitive and social skills in early childhood development.
The Cognitive development in early childhood relates to building blocks for reading comprehension and numbers. Research says that early years play a
important role in brain development for babies that is when babies start to acquire information around them and make connections between them. So it
is important to expose children to educational media and also be careful what you say around them because children would pick up what you say.In
Piaget's theory, it shows how children construct knowledge through experiences. These are the advantages for having technology in schools for
cognitive development. Price states that preschoolers who use ipads can have a positive impact on student engagement, increasing motivation and
interest (Price, Jewitt & Crescenzi, 2015). Drawing is a hands–on activity that helps to develop their fine motor skills and an foundation for writing.
Drawing is the process of "symbolic understanding and symbolic expression" development , where children form ideas from scribbles according to
Piaget (Siegler, DeLoache, & Eisenberg, 2011). It is good for children to draw because it helps children to express their creativity. Price's Study finds
that the Ipad supports more touch–based mark making interaction than paper (Price, Jewitt & Crescenzi, 2015). In conclusion of the study, the
researchers found out that touch screens are more instructional than them using a mouse and keyboard because it shows children the interaction of the
sensorimotor stage. It is easier for children to write letters and numbers on the web. Technology in schools can help children absorb information like
watching educational videos. Children watching educational television in preschool can lead to long

On the Internet teachers have set plans or guidelines for other teachers to look at and get ideas on what to do for their classroom. I think this is a
great idea for teachers to use especially for new and young teachers to get some great ideas. By using this tool, teachers could hopefully get better and
new ideas on how to teach certain subjects or try new things with the students. Teachers can get hints on how they can give tests, or how to help the
students become better test takers on the Internet. The web site http//www.schoolnotes.com showed many different ways teachers could help the
students. The site gives teachers ideas on the best ways to give oral test, true and false tests, by giving the teacher instructions on how to successfully
present the material. Class Webs are another way teachers and students can get involved with the Internet and technology; students can help their
teachers create a web page for their class. Many teachers use the Internet to find Resources for the classroom. They can find many things for the class
to do on the Internet like games and projects.

Then there is the Internet, which can make everyone lives that much easier, but in regards to education the Internet can do wonders. Not only can
teachers use it in the classroom to use a reference but students can also do research for any type of assignment on any topic in the world. That's how
far reaching and valuable it is to education, even local school districts can have websites to inform that community of all the activities taking place in or

With all of the positives of technology in education there are also they negatives. The main setback of technology in education is the cost of the
technology. It isn't cheap at all and it leaves many schools without the means necessary to provide better technology for their students. The costs
involve buying computers, printers, monitors, overheads, Internet connection, and of course the salary of technicians who keep all of this technology

else related to the school like renovations to buildings or anything else that relates to the safety of the students. Then there is also the fact that students
are relying on computers to do a lot of the work for them. Word processing programs can fix spelling and grammatical errors without the student even

how to search for material and critically review it in order to ensure that it is factual and honest. Another option is Webquest, "an inquiry–based
curriculum design for online problem solving that has become very popular.[4]" Teachers who wish to utilize these resources can do so by having
students look up laws and court decisions online and create presentations or recreate the court cases in order to illustrate their comprehension of the
material, as well as show their thoughts on the subject. Students today have options available to them that were never available before, both in the
classroom and in the library.

At times it is easy for teachers to rely and depend upon technology as their aide, but as it turns out, they still end up having to first of learn the
device and then be able to teach it to others. It is easy for a teacher to sit at a computer and write up a newsletter or assignment once they have

but it is still a new invention for some. Along with this, comes all of the extra classes that have to be added to the schedule for learning these

effectiveness divides into two areas: 1) learning with computers, using computers as tutors 2) learning from computers, which is when the student uses
the computer as a tool in the learning process for communication, collaboration, research, or publishing. However, for any of this to work a well

a hard time working with the new technology many schools are starting to use, the adverse effects of technology do not compare with all the benefits of
integrating technology into education. The Ameritech Electronic University School Classroom is a recently developed...show more content...
6).
One of the fears of the teachers who would be working in the Ameritech setting was that the technology would lead to less social interaction among the
students, but the opposite was in fact turned out to be true (Drew par. 8). Since there was only about 1 computer for every two to three students it forced
them to work together and led to enhanced cooperative learning between students. It also gave more tech–savvy students the chance to show off some
of their skills and help lead the class. One teacher remarked, "My students were more cooperative working on computers than in other group
activities" (Drew par. 9). Obviously, for a group project to actually work all of the students must be interested in the project and show some desire to
learn, and with a fun setting like this, students seem to be more inclined to learn.
A large challenge that public schools have to grapple with is to provide appropriately challenging assignments to all the students in the class even
though they might not all be on the same level. With the technology available for the students to use in the Ameritech Classroom it allowed them to
pursue subjects of personal interest and work on them according to how they felt most comfortable. These advantages also allowed a student to work at
their own pace, not one that is dictated by the teacher. Thus, students who might have felt

Technology And Education Essay

  • 1. Technology and Education Essay Technology and Education The use of technology in schools has a great effect on not only students, but teachers as well. Today, we mostly think of technology as computers, but it is much more than that. In fact, one of the first technologies used in the classroom was the chalkboard. Most students today use technology throughout their school day. Uses for technology can be found for every subject matter a student has. Some of the most widely used tools are found in the English and Language Arts classes. Writing on word processors allows students to cut–and–paste, save their work, and use spell checkers and thesauruses. With technology students are also given advantages in learning how to read. Reading programs use ...show more content... Many problems seem almost impossible without them. Technology is also very useful to students in foreign languageeducation, distance education, and for helping students with special needs. Technology can help students in all areas of study. Students need to be able to use this technology since, "Currently and in the near future, it is understood that students need to acquire more autonomous skills of 'information gathering, analysis, and display'" (Todnem, 2004, p. 1). Furthermore, the use of technology, mainly the internet, provides for variation since "Students find themselves bored and burnt–out of the lecture format to classes, so changing the curriculum and instruction to include things like online assignments and educational videogames can be one clear remedy" (Todnem, 2004, p. 1). Teachers who have implemented technology into their classrooms have noticed changes in their students. The most common of these effects being an increase in motivation. In "Effects of Technology on Classrooms and Students" another positive effect is given "technology effect stressed by many teachers was enhancement of student self esteem" ("Effects," 2004, p. 2). Technology not only affects students, but also teachers. Resources such as voice mail, email, and the World Wide Web all aid teachers in informing parents of upcoming events, responding to students and their questions, and searching for information. There are also technology tools Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Technology in Education Essay Technology in Education Today, if you enter an average elementary classroom you might find a computer cart with twenty or thirty lap tops, all with hook–up to the internet. The teacher usually has either a desk top or lap top computer, sometimes both, for keeping track of important information. Technology has, in many ways, positively impacted the educational field. Michigan has made using technology a necessity. With help from the Freedom to Learn Program, improvements in classroom technology, and special programs used to assist educators, teachers become familiar with the new technology. Recently, a press release from the MichiganVirtualUniversity stated, "The Department of Management and Budget ...announced it has finalized a...show more content... In the 1990s, many classrooms where equipped with six to ten PCs, where children could access educational programs. However, this only allowed six or ten children to use this type of learning resource at a time. It was even new for the schools to have four or five rooms dedicated for computer use, with possibly thirty desk tops. This type of technology was used to help student's reinforce what they had learned, and to become familiar with programs such as Microsoft Word or Works. Now, with wide use of the lap top and increase in the budget, schools can provide carts that hold twenty to thirty lap tops. Unfortunately, in most school districts these carts must be rented out and there is a limit on how many classrooms can use this technology at once. Also, a new type of technology used in classroom in my hometown is microphones, which the teacher wears on their shirt or jacket. The class room is then equipped with surround sound speakers, which ensures that each student can hear and understand the teacher. This type of technology is a good idea; honestly, there are times now, where it would be nice if professors would wear microphones. The second most influential technological breakthrough that has impacted education tremendously is the internet. Both teachers and students use the internet to find information on the World Wide Web, where there are millions of sites of information: some good and others bad. • 3. Technology In Education Technology in the classroom John Dewey, a leader for the progressive movement in education in the United States once said, "If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow." To change the ways of teaching. John Dewey advocated for the proper teaching of children and his ideals still apply today. Although technology can improve instruction substantially, school districts have to consider the harmful psychological effects, dangers of the Internet, and costs to maintain electronics. Before using technology in the classroom, schools should consider upfront cost to purpose technology, psychological effects to students, and opportunities for instructional aid. To start off, schools need to realize the amount they can save in the long run by utilizing technology and lean away from traditional, old fashioned, hard cover books. When books become outdated and used, schools have to spend endless amounts to replace them. To avoid this, schools can take the initiate and work proactively and replace hard cover books with electronics to avoid unnecessary expenses. An example of this occurred at Empire High School which recently made a switch from textbooks even though, "it wasn't because of a funding crisis." (Source A) Empire High School shows just how well technology can work. Not only does technology help in saving necessary funding, it adds a sure convenience factor to the students and teachers by not having to drag around large and expensive textbooks. • 4. Technology And The Field Of Education Essay With improved living conditions, healthcare, communication, and evolution of human intelligence, technological advancement in the world today has grown to unprecedented levels. For example, as a result of technology, patients can remotely interact with medics located in different parts of the world through telehealth/telemedicine. In the field of education, students do not necessarily need to visit libraries to access books. There are several soft copies of books online that they can access from the comfort of their desktop computers, laptops, or even mobile phones. On a more advanced level, learning does not necessarily have to occur only through reading books and other traditionally accepted academic sources. The internet is awash with educational information that is typically the most up to date source. In her article "Project Classroom Makeover," Davidson discusses the potential shift in paradigm presented by technological advancement in the field of education. She argues that with technological advancement, it is no longer necessary to have students sit in class and wait to be guided, instructed, and examined by experts. On the other side, Sherry Turkle discusses the human –machine interaction in her work "Selections from Alone Together: Why We Expect More fromTechnology and Less from Each Other" as an aspect of the changing paradigm. Nafisi's article "Selection from Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books" then presents a society deficient of modern technology. The Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay Technology and Education Technology and Education Technology has revolutionized the way in which all humans go about their daily lives. In every second of every day, our world and way of life becomes more developed and dependant on technology for the basic needs of human existences. Whether it is at home, work, school, walking down the street, or listening to music, technology has allowed people to do things better, faster, and more efficiently. As the world continues to explode withnew technology being developed and current technology being refined, the emphasis on technology in education will be increasingly important. Technology can significantly enhance the development of learning and it is important that an understanding of technological...show more content... As a future educator, I understand the importance of knowing your material and effective ways in which to relay that essential information to student. The more informed and better prepared the teacher is, the more effective they become in developing the minds of the students. What is good for the development of the teachers is equally if not more vital to the students. There have been thousands of studies calculating the effect that technology has on the learning process. One of these studies was done by the Milken Family Foundation and Education Week in West Virginia, the first state to do a statewide learning program and test for its effectiveness. It is stated in the results that the effective use of technological programs can and does "advance both the basic skills of reading, writing, and mathematics as well as students' ability to think critically and creatively." In a different study conducted by James Kulik, a research scientist at the Center for Research and Learning at the University of Michigan that has done well over 100 studies comparing classrooms that used computer aided education with classrooms that did not, stated that "students in the computer using classrooms learned more and learned it faster"(www.edweek.org). The more accurate information thateducators can give to students and the faster the students understand the material, the more developed that our education systems will be and in effect will turn out Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Technology In Education Technology has revolutionized the human experience by changing the way one learns. Technology can best be defined as a tool that supports and promotes human learning. This can be seen through the usage of calculators, tablets (example: iPad), Smart Boards, video cameras, and, of course, the computer. These are all innovations that can have a profound impact on classroomlearning. Although there are some schools that have a strict policy that technology should be removed from the modern day classroom, other schools believe that integrating technology into the classroom helps prepare our students for the elaborate world they will face going forward. Throughout this essay, I will be focusing on the technology policy and how it has a positive...show more content... Subjects that might be monotonous for some – like math and science – can be much more engaging with virtual lessons, tutoring, and the streaming of educational videos (Khan, 2012, p. 17). This carries tremendous weight for me. As a student who struggled with Math, the best way that I learned was through computer games because it was fun and interesting to me. When students are given the opportunity to learn at their pace, stress levels are managed and scores are increasingly higher because the student is given the opportunity to grow their confidence and complete the task at hand without feeling any pressure. With the integration of technology, students get direct, individualized instruction from the computer. This form of supplemental teaching allows them to engage with the information at times that are most convenient for them and helps them become more self–directed in the learning process. It also gives the teacher more time to accomplish classroom objectives, while freeing them up to help the students who might be struggling with certain lessons. It is crucial that students are not just being educated in only one way. Each child is different; as a result, learning styles should be versatile and open to new strategies. By learning to use technology correctly, teachers are preparing themselves, and the students for the future by developing certain skills that will be essential in the 21st century. Besides developing the students' technology skills, students will Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Essay on The Impact of Technology on Education The Impact of Technology on Education Technology affects every aspect of our lives. From romance to business, it has shown its presence everywhere. But technology has had a huge impact on education that cannot be denied, and has done nothing but improve the quality and quantity of education. Today, schools are being pressured more and more to improve the technology they use and teach in the classrooms. Parents are placing this pressure on schools so that their students have the skills needed to compete in the real world job market. Students are placing pressure on the schools to improve technology by having more knowledge of current technology than the school's staff. Teachers in turn are placing emphasis on the schools to...show more content... This frees up time for teachers to address more serious issues in the classroom and allows students more time to work on their project, instead of having to spend large quantities of time going over their project with the teacher. Also, programs such as PowerPoint and other graphic arts programs allow students to illustrate their literary works and by creating them on the computer, it makes it much simpler for the students to publish their own work on the internet. When it comes to learning how to improve reading skills, many programs exist, one of the better being Reader Rabbit, which uses games to disguise drill–and–practice routines to help students improve reading ability. All of these are examples of how technology has positively affected Language Arts education. Science education has also been affected however. Computer programs like BioPac, used here on LSSU's campus, help collect data and analyze it. Experiments that normally would not have been able to be accomplished or ones that would have required great lengths of time can now easily be completed in a matter of minutes. Also, internet resources can help provide ideas for experiments, with instructions on how to complete them often, and also will provide forums for students to exchange and discuss results with each other. • 8. Essay about Technology and Education Technology and Education Introduction Can you imagine a classroom so technologically advanced that every student had access to flat–screen computers, palm pilots, high–tech laboratories, electronic toys, laptops, video games, on–line class sessions and help, chat rooms, and other emerging technologies? Wouldn't it be fun to learn in that type of an environment! Essentially, the purpose of this research paper is to explore and evaluate how public education effectively incorporates use of these and other advances in technology to meet classroom demands with innovative technique. I begin by examining how schools have used technology in the past in order to gain insight from where we have come. Secondly, I investigate how today's...show more content... While announcement and discussion boards vary from a traditional chalkboard in appearance and media, they still function much in the same way that a chalkboard does. Announcement and discussion boards provide information to the students using a visual display that the students have unlimited access to. Announcement boards are online websites that function as a chat–room in which students are able to view information any time they want from any computer that has internet access. They are also able to communicate more effectively using the discussion board regardless if the class session has ended (CIAT brochure, 2002). Nevertheless, jumping ahead into the 1950's and 60's we now have the radio (1920's), movies, and television, which drastically change the appearance of education (PBS, 2000). It is easy to comprehend how these devices have been integrated into the classroom and even outside of the classroom. Take, for example, the children's television show Sesame Street, which is educational in nature. This show, which began in 1969, was created to teach preschoolers skills that would help them succeed in their early elementary years (anonymous, 2002). This is an excellent demonstration of an effectively integrated educational tool into public education, even outside of the classroom. This is just one of many ways that technology proves to provide our students with cutting edge advantages and opportunities. And with the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Technology And Education Currently technology plays a significant role in life. In today's society, children are exposed to technology everywhere. Technology is in homes, offices and schools. Technology is full of stimuli and requires paying attention to many different things at once (Dhruvin, 2017). Some parents have given their kids ipad or smartphones for entertainment at some point. Researchers are trying to see if technology and school education influences children's cognitive and social skills in early childhood development. The Cognitive development in early childhood relates to building blocks for reading comprehension and numbers. Research says that early years play a important role in brain development for babies that is when babies start to acquire information around them and make connections between them. So it is important to expose children to educational media and also be careful what you say around them because children would pick up what you say.In Piaget's theory, it shows how children construct knowledge through experiences. These are the advantages for having technology in schools for cognitive development. Price states that preschoolers who use ipads can have a positive impact on student engagement, increasing motivation and interest (Price, Jewitt & Crescenzi, 2015). Drawing is a hands–on activity that helps to develop their fine motor skills and an foundation for writing. Drawing is the process of "symbolic understanding and symbolic expression" development , where children form ideas from scribbles according to Piaget (Siegler, DeLoache, & Eisenberg, 2011). It is good for children to draw because it helps children to express their creativity. Price's Study finds that the Ipad supports more touch–based mark making interaction than paper (Price, Jewitt & Crescenzi, 2015). In conclusion of the study, the researchers found out that touch screens are more instructional than them using a mouse and keyboard because it shows children the interaction of the sensorimotor stage. It is easier for children to write letters and numbers on the web. Technology in schools can help children absorb information like watching educational videos. On the Internet teachers have set plans or guidelines for other teachers to look at and get ideas on what to do for their classroom. I think this is a great idea for teachers to use especially for new and young teachers to get some great ideas. By using this tool, teachers could hopefully get better and new ideas on how to teach certain subjects or try new things with the students. Teachers can get hints on how they can give tests, or how to help the students become better test takers on the Internet. The web site http//www.schoolnotes.com showed many different ways teachers could help the students. The site gives teachers ideas on the best ways to give oral test, true and false tests, by giving the teacher instructions on how to successfully present the material. Class Webs are another way teachers and students can get involved with the Internet and technology; students can help their teachers create a web page for their class. Many teachers use the Internet to find Resources for the classroom. They can find many things for the class to do on the Internet like games and projects. I have talked to a couple of teachers when I worked for an elementary school in high school during my Junior and Senior year. Then there is the Internet, which can make everyone lives that much easier, but in regards to education the Internet can do wonders. Not only can teachers use it in the classroom to use a reference but students can also do research for any type of assignment on any topic in the world. That's how far reaching and valuable it is to education, even local school districts can have websites to inform that community of all the activities taking place in or around the school. With all of the positives of technology in education there are also they negatives. The main setback of technology in education is the cost of the technology. It isn't cheap at all and it leaves many schools without the means necessary to provide better technology for their students. The costs involve buying computers, printers, monitors, overheads, Internet connection, and of course the salary of technicians who keep all of this technology running. Another set back with the price of these technologies is that it can force some schools to spend money they should be spending on something else related to the school like renovations to buildings or anything else that relates to the safety of the students. Then there is also the fact that students are relying on computers to do a lot of the work for them. Word processing programs can fix spelling and grammatical errors without the student even learning that what is he doing is wrong. These problems can be Get more content on HelpWriting.net

"There is so much information available that students can soon become overwhelmed or, worse yet, completely duped by Web sites that speciously appear to be accurate and honest sources (Braun 1997).[3]" Teachers, when instructing students to use the Internet, should show them how to search for material and critically review it in order to ensure that it is factual and honest. Another option is Webquest, "an inquiry–based curriculum design for online problem solving that has become very popular.[4]" Teachers who wish to utilize these resources can do so by having students look up laws and court decisions online and create presentations or recreate the court cases in order to illustrate their comprehension of the material, as well as show their thoughts on the subject. Students today have options available to them that were never available before, both in the classroom and in the library. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

However, for any of this to work a well knowledge teacher must be present. Therefore, a technology plan must commit to professional development and continue to support and find ways to integrate technology into the curriculum. What is the purpose of implementing technology? Research indicates that computer technology increases student's high order thinking skills. Students are able to conceptualize, analyze and solve more complex problems. Technology provides ways for teachers and school to utilize time more efficiently (Burdette 2001). Technology can be used to present information in a new, more appropriate way. One of the reasons they are so different is because of technology. In the past fifty years the world of technology has grown tremendously, affecting everything, including education. A few things that have been brought into the world of education are computers, video and digital equipment such as DVDs, digital cameras and recording devices. The technology also includes information presentation technologies which includes the Smart Board, and different interactive whiteboards. It makes them more willing to listen and focus on the lesson. Fifty years ago, classrooms didn't have this kind of technology. Classrooms only had black boards or white boards. (Bell ) In 1992, Intel Corporation became an investor in the idea of Smart Boards. At first, not many people thought of them as a good idea, but slowly people became more used to the idea. Since then, more than 100,000 Smart Boards have been produced and sold. Since they were first produced, there have been many advances in technology, thus creating more variations of the Smart Board. Technology and Education Essay Technology and Education The idea of integrating technology (like computers in every classroom and an overhead projector that is connected to the teachers computer) into education is a relatively new idea, and when I first started researching the topic I tried to look for the adverse effects of technology and education. Through my research I have decided that integrating technology into the classroom is indeed a good idea. The Ameritech Electronic University School Classroom is a recently developed...show more content... 6). One of the fears of the teachers who would be working in the Ameritech setting was that the technology would lead to less social interaction among the students, but the opposite was in fact turned out to be true (Drew par. 8). Since there was only about 1 computer for every two to three students it forced them to work together and led to enhanced cooperative learning between students. It also gave more tech–savvy students the chance to show off some of their skills and help lead the class. One teacher remarked, "My students were more cooperative working on computers than in other group activities" (Drew par. 9). Obviously, for a group project to actually work all of the students must be interested in the project and show some desire to learn, and with a fun setting like this, students seem to be more inclined to learn. A large challenge that public schools have to grapple with is to provide appropriately challenging assignments to all the students in the class even though they might not all be on the same level. With the technology available for the students to use in the Ameritech Classroom it allowed them to pursue subjects of personal interest and work on them according to how they felt most comfortable. These advantages also allowed a student to work at their own pace, not one that is dictated by the teacher. Thus, students who might have felt Get more content on HelpWriting.net
