ABOUT US
Rolls branch factory is a specialized manufacturer of rollers established in 2002. It
has 320 employees, including 60 engineering and technical personnel and 260 production
workers.
The company has 86 sets of advanced casting and machining equipment dedicated
for rollers, including 5 medium-frequency induction furnaces of different tonnage between
1.5-5 tons, more than 20 heat treatment furnaces of different tonnage between 2 - 25 tons, 7
horizontal centrifugal casting machines of different specifications, and more than 60 sets of
special machine tools for rollers; high-precision rollers adopt CNC lathe processing.
The main processing equipment includes XK9416, XK7412, X2012D gantry millers,
MKC1380, MK84125, M84160, H163 grinders, CK5120B, CK6294, CKD61160, C5225E,
C8463B, CK5225M, C84180, CK61125 CNC lathes, CT6110A, CW6110D, CW61125B and
C61100 special lathes for rollers. For casthouse hot metal element analysis, the Switzerland
direct-reading spectrometer analysis is adopted; the hot metal is measured with
high-precision electronic scales; the hardness of products is measured with electronic Shore
hardness tester; product internal defects are detected by ultrasonic flaw detectors; for tissue
detection, metaloscope with digital cameras and computer-controlled image analyzers are
used, to realize stronger production and inspection capabilities. The main products are divided
into more than 20 varieties, including cast iron rollers, cast steel rollers, semi-steel rollers, high
speed steel rollers, with an annual output of more than 10,000 tons of centrifugal composite
rollers, common rollers and roll collars. The products are sold to iron and steel enterprises
across the country, and exported to South Korea, India, Malaysia, the United States and other
countries and regions, being highly praised by users.
The company obtained the roll production license in 2004, and obtained the
international mutually recognized ISO9001 Quality System Certification issued by the China
Metallurgical Industry Quality System Certification Center in 2003; the quality management
has been integrated with the international standards, and the company gained the “passport”
for selling products to the international markets; the company has passed the supervision and
reexaminations of the certification center for consecutive years. The quality management
system has maintained adequate, suitable and effective operation.

PRODUCTS
 Casting Steel Rolls
 High Chromium Steel Rolls - HCrS
The hardness of HCrS rolls is as high as
65-80 HSC. Its matrix gives itself excellent
wear resistance and good fire-crack
resistance.
HCrS rolls have a low carbon content range
of about 10%. An important characteristic of
HCrS is that the mill is not required to adjust
special water cooling conditions. And in the rolling process these rolls can form oxide film to
improve surface quality of rolled products.
These rolls are suitable for both two-Hi roughing and early stand of four-Hi finishing for hot
strip mills.

 High Speed Steel Rolls – HSS
HSS rolls have high hardness and good wear
resistance at high temperature. These rolls
are manufactured by Centrifugal Casting (CC)
method and the roll core is filled with
spheroidal graphite cast iron. The adequate
chemical composition control and proper heat
treatment ensures the hardness of roll
working layer to reach as high as 80-85HSC.
Uniformly distributed complex carbides of Vanadium. Tungsten, Niobium and Molybdenum in
the martensitic matrix ensures uniform hardness of working layer and uniform wear out in the
roll passes. These types of rolls are used for finishing stands to increase productivity and
improve surface quality of rolled piece.

 Alloy Indefinite Chilled Cast Iron Rolls - AIC
Alloy Indefinite Chilled Cast Iron Rolls is a
cast iron with fine intercrystalline graphite
evenly distributed throughout the working
layer of roll barrel. The sizes shapes and
distributions of graphite and carbide are
controlled by the chilling effect and the
contents of alloy elements. The addition of
alloy elements such as Manganese, Nickel,
Chromium, and Molybdenum changes the
matrix microstructure from pearlite, bainite to martensite. The present of small amount of fine
graphite enhances the roll’s resistance to spalling, thermal crack and wearability. This roll has
small hardness gradient in the working layer of roll barrel and is suitable to medium and
finishing stands for bar, wire and section mills.

 Clear Chilled Rolls - CC
Alloy chilled cast iron rolls are one kind of cast
iron rolls, which contain almost no free
graphite in the matrix of working layer of the
barrel. They have high hardness and
excellent wearability, and are suitable to finish
stands of light bar and wire rolling mills and
narrow strip mills. Its microstructure is fine pearlite and carbides.

 Alloy Nodular Cast Iron Rolls - SG
These rolls are characterized by spherical
graphite. Its mechanical properties are similar
to that of alloy indefinite chilled rolls except
that its strength is higher than the latter. They
can be produced by static.

 Spheroidal Graphite Pearlite Rolls - SGP
Pearlitic nodular rolls are obtained by adding
alloy elements of NiCrMo into the nodular
cast iron and following special heat treatment.
Pearlitic nodular rolls have high strength,
good thermal properties and resistance to
emergencies as well as small hardness
gradient of working layer.

 Spin Cast High Chromium Iron Rolls - HCr
This type of roll is manufactured from high
alloy materials, whose microstructure is
bainite and chrome carbides and core is filled
with spheroidal graphite cast iron.

 Cast Rolls For Cold Rolling Mills - HCrCold
Cast rolls for cold rolling mill are obtained by
adding some special alloy elements based on
HCr II and HCr III and following heat
treatments many times. The hardness can
reach as high as 78-82 HSC. The rated
tonnage rolled is one time higher than that of
cold forge steel rolls.

 Non Continuous Carbides Rolls - NCC
Rolls for roughers require a combination of
some properties, some of which can be
counteracted by the others. These properties
include wearability, resistance of fire cracking
and impact, hot hardness and hot strength etc.
Excessive network carbides will improve
wearability and impact resistance but
dramatically reduce fracture toughness. Under rough rolling process they can promote fire
cracking formation and added to form Bainitic / Martensitic (acicular) matrix, which is more
wearable than conventional pearlitic matrix. The Molybdenum can also improve the hot
hardness of rolls.
This type of roll is manufactured from high alloy materials with special heat treatment. Carbide
content is the matrix is less than 5%, which is satisfactory to the requirement of roughers.

 Casting Rolls With Grooves
These rolls have an advantage of small
hardness difference between upper surface
and lower surface of the roll pass and can be
used for stands of medium and large section
mills as well as large bar mills. They have
advantages of long service life and good
surface quality of rolled pieces. They are
highly welcomed by customers. SGP
(spheroidal graphite pearlite) can be used for
medium section mills, and AIC (alloy
indefinite chilled) can be used for small section mills.

 Bainitic Nodular Cast Iron Rolls - SGA
Alloy elements of Ni, Mn, Cr, Mo etc. are
added to bainitic nodular cast iron rolls for
obtaining acicular (bainite-martenite) matrix in
its microstructure of these rolls. Its strength
and toughness is higher than Pearlitic
Nodular Cast Iron Rolls, wearability is also
better than latter. These rolls can be produced
by static casting or centrifugal casting.

 Hot Working Die Steel Rolls – HWD
Hot Working Die Steel Rolls are formed in the
high temperature state and have high thermal
strength, high thermal stability, excellent
wearability and resistance to thermal fatigue
and temper stability. This type of rolls is used
for blooming of large section mills to have a
much longer service life.

 Alloy Steel Rolls - AS
Alloy cast steel rolls are made of high quality
steel melted with variable frequency furnace
and finished with advanced foundry and heat
treatment technologies. Our rolls have
mechanical properties of high tensile strength,
excellent resistance to fire crack, high
wearability and toughness. These rolls are
mainly composed of pearlite (or temper sorbate) in the microstructure.

 Adamite Rolls - AD
Adamite is a material, mechanical properties
and carbon content of which stands between
steel and iron. Owing to its alloy elements
such as Ni, Cr, Mo etc. there are some
amount of carbide in the matrix and because
of certain special heat treatment technology,
high wearability, good toughness and
excellent resistance to fire crack are obtained. The most advantages of these rolls are almost
no hardness gradient in the working layer. These rolls are used in roughers and front stands of
the finisher for hot strip mills; rougher, intermediate stands and pre-finishing stands for bar and
wire; roll rings and roll sleeves for universal ills and cantilever mills.

 Graphite Steel Rolls - GS
The characteristics of graphite steel rolls are
similar to that of adamite rolls, the main
character is that it contains a small amount of
fine graphite in its microstructure, which will
increase its resistance to fire crack and
prevent oxidized scales from adhering. They
are suitable for blooming and roughing
stands.

In rolling sheets for automobiles and
household electrical appliances, the dent
imperfection brought by the foreign
objects on the roll's surface will most
probably be passed on to the strip surface
to cause color difference and pit in the
rolled product. Due to the demanding
surface soundness of those products,
these kinds of flaws will definitely bring a
negative effect on the strip quality.
Sinom Roll has upgraded their rolls' anti-press-in and anti-scratches capabilities by
adjusting the rolls' alloy composition and heat treatment techniques. The barrel's
hardness can reach over HRC64. Granted as National Patent, this tech can satisfy
the requirement of high-performance cold rolled products such as sheets for
automobile and high-class household electrical appliances.

With the development of current rolling
skill, increases are being achieved
continuously in the products' level and
output. In rolling some steel sheets with
higher strength, phenomenon as
"slippery" will often occur resulting from
excessively fast decreasing of toughness.
As a result, the quality of sheet will
degrade while roll change frequency will
increase. It not only affects the output but also raises the roll's consumption.
By scientific alignment to the chemical composition and rational production
techniques, Sinom Roll optimizes the carbide type and distribution and develops a
series of anti-abrasion rolls.
This product has applied for national patent.

 Anti-hydrogen Corrosion Roll
In the process of skin-passing hot-dipped
galvanized Al-Zn sheet, aluminium / zinc
reacts with cooling water to generate
hydrogen which will stay to the roll surface.
As a result, the crack from hydrogen
brittleness will take shape to add to the
grinding even lead to the spalling.
By adjusting the roll composition,
Changzhou roll adopts special heat treatment to control the grain size of the
hardened layer, the remnant austenite and the hardness of roll in improving the basic
characteristics, thus to upheave its anti-hydrogen-brittleness feature.

In order to fit the special requirement of
the silicon steel customers, Sinom Roll
launched the design and development in
roll’s new material and technique so that
the Anti-accident roll for silicon steel can

customers.

 Cold Rolling Mill Intermediate Roll
Cold rolling mill intermediate Roll applies
to high precision 6-Hi (as well as a few
8-Hi) mill, named from working location
between work roll and back-up roll, mainly
used to control the shape of strip. Material specification of 2%Cr, 3%Cr, 5%Cr,
Semi-High Speed Steel are available.

Forged steel back-up roll is mainly used in
4-Hi mill and 6-Hi mill. The diameter of roll
barrel is 350~1400mm. The material of
back-up roll includes 60CrMo, 9Cr2Mo,
86CrMoV7, 70Cr3Mo etc.
The main types of mills: back-up roll of
650mm Mill, 900mm Mill, 1050mm Mill,
1250mm Mill, 1450mm Mill.

 Sendzimir and Cluster Mill Roll
 Sendzimir Work Roll & Sendzimir Intermediate Roll
Sendzimir mill is favored by high technology
customers because of high rolling precision, such
as very thin strip and difficult deformation silicon
steel, stainless steel.
The material of Sendzimir work roll is tool steel, die
steel and high-speed steel. These are materials of
high hardness. The rolls are manufactured under
quenching and tempering processes of high
temperature. During the tempering process, secondary hardening is used to reach
hardness of 60-63HRC, 61-64 HRC, 63-66HRC etc, for different work rolls.
High hardness tool steel and die steel are used as raw materials for Sendzimir
intermediate roll. The rolls are also manufactured under quenching and tempering
process of high temperature. During tempering process, secondary hardening is
used to reach hardness of 55-60HRC for different intermediate rolls.

 Retained Mandrel Bar
The retained mandrel for the production of large-sized seamless steel pipe is used in
sectional structure. Its working section is exposed to complex and huge surface
pressure as well as thermal cold-hot fatigue, whereas its connection part has to
withstand mechanical forces during the pressing process.
The working part of the retained mandrel produced by CBR adopts H13 hot-work die
steel. The many production processes, that include smelting, forging, rough
machining, heat treatment, semi-finished & finished machining, chrome plating and
phosphate treatment, ensures the following characteristics: CBR is upgrading the
mandrel material and its manufacturing technology in close collaboration with China
Research Institute.

It has 320 employees, including 60 engineering and technical personnel and 260 production workers. The company has 86 sets of advanced casting and machining equipment dedicated for rollers, including 5 medium-frequency induction furnaces of different tonnage between 1.5-5 tons, more than 20 heat treatment furnaces of different tonnage between 2 - 25 tons, 7 horizontal centrifugal casting machines of different specifications, and more than 60 sets of special machine tools for rollers; high-precision rollers adopt CNC lathe processing. The main processing equipment includes XK9416, XK7412, X2012D gantry millers, MKC1380, MK84125, M84160, H163 grinders, CK5120B, CK6294, CKD61160, C5225E, C8463B, CK5225M, C84180, CK61125 CNC lathes, CT6110A, CW6110D, CW61125B and C61100 special lathes for rollers. For casthouse hot metal element analysis, the Switzerland direct-reading spectrometer analysis is adopted; the hot metal is measured with high-precision electronic scales; the hardness of products is measured with electronic Shore hardness tester; product internal defects are detected by ultrasonic flaw detectors; for tissue detection, metaloscope with digital cameras and computer-controlled image analyzers are used, to realize stronger production and inspection capabilities. The main products are divided into more than 20 varieties, including cast iron rollers, cast steel rollers, semi-steel rollers, high speed steel rollers, with an annual output of more than 10,000 tons of centrifugal composite rollers, common rollers and roll collars. The products are sold to iron and steel enterprises across the country, and exported to South Korea, India, Malaysia, the United States and other countries and regions, being highly praised by users. The company obtained the roll production license in 2004, and obtained the international mutually recognized ISO9001 Quality System Certification issued by the China Metallurgical Industry Quality System Certification Center in 2003; the quality management has been integrated with the international standards, and the company gained the “passport” for selling products to the international markets; the company has passed the supervision and reexaminations of the certification center for consecutive years. Its matrix gives itself excellent wear resistance and good fire-crack resistance. HCrS rolls have a low carbon content range of about 10%. An important characteristic of HCrS is that the mill is not required to adjust special water cooling conditions. And in the rolling process these rolls can form oxide film to improve surface quality of rolled products. These rolls are suitable for both two-Hi roughing and early stand of four-Hi finishing for hot strip mills. These rolls are manufactured by Centrifugal Casting (CC) method and the roll core is filled with spheroidal graphite cast iron. The adequate chemical composition control and proper heat treatment ensures the hardness of roll working layer to reach as high as 80-85HSC. Uniformly distributed complex carbides of Vanadium. Tungsten, Niobium and Molybdenum in the martensitic matrix ensures uniform hardness of working layer and uniform wear out in the roll passes. These types of rolls are used for finishing stands to increase productivity and improve surface quality of rolled piece. The sizes shapes and distributions of graphite and carbide are controlled by the chilling effect and the contents of alloy elements. The addition of alloy elements such as Manganese, Nickel, Chromium, and Molybdenum changes the matrix microstructure from pearlite, bainite to martensite. The present of small amount of fine graphite enhances the roll’s resistance to spalling, thermal crack and wearability. This roll has small hardness gradient in the working layer of roll barrel and is suitable to medium and finishing stands for bar, wire and section mills. These properties include wearability, resistance of fire cracking and impact, hot hardness and hot strength etc. Excessive network carbides will improve wearability and impact resistance but dramatically reduce fracture toughness. Under rough rolling process they can promote fire cracking formation and added to form Bainitic / Martensitic (acicular) matrix, which is more wearable than conventional pearlitic matrix. The Molybdenum can also improve the hot hardness of rolls. This type of roll is manufactured from high alloy materials with special heat treatment. Carbide content is the matrix is less than 5%, which is satisfactory to the requirement of roughers. Its working section is exposed to complex and huge surface pressure as well as thermal cold-hot fatigue, whereas its connection part has to withstand mechanical forces during the pressing process.
