Hostesses, bartenders, and event servers all play important roles in ensuring a positive dining experience for customers. Hostesses greet customers, seat them, and help maintain cleanliness. Bartenders prepare and serve drinks, stock supplies, and clean areas. Event servers set up event spaces, serve food and drinks to guests, and break down events.
1. Hostess Responsibilities:
-Answer phone calls, answer questions, take messages, take reservations and to-go orders, or transfer
calls as needed
-Greet and seat customers, providing them with the appropriate menus
-Assign tables to servers and bartenders, help set and clear tables as needed
-Maintain entrance, front desk, and waiting area cleanliness
-Add to overall restaurant experience as "first experience the guest has"
Bartender Responsibilities:
-Greet customers, take any food or beverage orders, perform ID check if necessary.
-Prepare drinks, cocktails, martinis, and other beverages, following established recipes or customer
requests.
-Make wine recommendations, professionally present wine purchases to tables.
-Stock bar with appropriate liquors, beer, glassware and other necessities.
-Collect payment for any purchases, balance drawer at end of the night.
-Clean bar, counter tops, coolers, glassware, liquor wells, and liquor displays.
-Cut, prepare, and stock appropriate garnishes for drinks.
-Know common cocktail recipes, types of liquor, martini recipes.
-Serve alcoholic beverages in accordance with the ServSafe Alcohol training guidelines.
Event Server Responsibilities:
-Set event space and tables per BEO instructions.
-Set out/butler pass food and beverage items during social hour.
-Carry trays of food, serve tables in assigned section, or set buffet for appropriate number of guests.
-Maintain quality customer service, anticipating guests' needs and fulfilling them in a timely manner.
-Clear section, tear down event, break down tables, and clear event space.
