2. The term orthographic came from the Greek words "orthos and graphos"
which means straight line drawing
ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTION
Is the method of representing the exact shape of an object into two or more
views of planes generally at right angles or 90 degree to each other by
extending perpendicular from the object to the plane.

3. 1. FRONTAL PLANE: this shows the shape of the object when view from the
front. This is known as the front view of an object.
2. HORIZONTAL PLANE: this shows the appearance of the object as if viewed
directly above and shows the distance from front to rear. This is known as the
top view of an object.
3. PROFILE PLANE: this profile shows the shape of an object when viewed
from the side. This is known as the side view of an object.

6. ISOMETRIC DRAWING
Is a drawing wherein the object is represented by the three side seen in one
time. It is made with 30x60 degree triangle. It is also a three dimensional
drawing because height, width and depth are all drawn in a single plane.
Box method is the starting point for all isometric drawing.

7. PRINCIPAL DIMENSIONS
WIDTH - is the measurement
of an object taken from the
side to side of an object.
HEIGHT - is the measurement
taken from top to bottom of an
object.
8. PICTORIAL DRAWING
Are drawings that show objects as they would
appear in a reality. It is also a drawing that shows
more than one side of the object.
TYPES OF PICTORIAL DRAWING
AXONOMETRIC DRAWING - has the object
turned so that the three faces are viewed
simultaneously.
DEPTH - is the measurement from front to rear of an object.
9. THE AXONOMETRIC POSITION
ISOMETRIC - is another way of presenting
design /drawings in three dimensions. The
example opposite has been drawn with 30
degree set square.
DIMETRIC - as a way of drawing an
object so that one axis has a different
scale than the other two axis in the
drawing.
10. TRIMETRIC - the projection of the three
angles between the axes are unequal.
Have one plane parallel to the picture plane which is the same size as the orthographic view.
TYPES:
CAVALIER - an oblique projection with lines of projection at a 45-degree angle to the plane of
projection.
CABINET - an oblique projection in mechanical drawing in which dimensions parallel to the third
axis of the object are shortened one half to overcome apparent distortion.
OBLIQUE DRAWING
12. PERSPECTIVE DRAWING
object are drawn smaller as their distance from
the observer increases. The lines of an object are
aligned to 1,2 or 3 vanishing point.
TYPES OF PERSPECTIVE
DRAWING
PARALLEL OR ONE POINT PERSPECTIVE :
is a drawing method that shows how
things appear to get smalleras they get
further away , converging towards a single
vanishing pointon the horizon line.
13. ANGULAR OR TWO POINT PERSPECTIVE
Linear perspective in which
parallel lines along the width
and depth of an object are
represented as meeting at two
separate point on the horizon
that are 90 degrees apart as
measured from the common
intersection of the line
projection.
