To Whom It May Concern:
I’m writing to offer my hearty recommendation of Eman Yahia as an English teacher
and/or translator. In September of 2014, I took approximately ten hours of instruction in
Egyptian Arabic from Emma. I can’t say enough good things about her.
I moved to Egypt in early 2014 to take a year off from my legal career in the U.S. and
spend time writing and studying Arabic, but I spent most of the year too distracted by
how much fun I was having to study seriously. In August, I sought out Emma’s help. I
had picked up the basics, but I told her I wanted to learn as much Arabic as I could before
I left Egypt. We more or less started from scratch, but in just a month I felt I made
tremendous progress. Emma was able to help me immensely with pronunciation and
writing skills in particular.
Emma is uniquely qualified for a position as an English teacher or translator. First,
her English is excellent. We never had any trouble communicating. Second, she
understands how to formulate a strategy and a plan. After we had our first meeting, she
came back the next time with a written, long-term agenda for developing my skills.
Third, Emma’s sunny disposition and easy-going friendliness make everyone around her
comfortable. I had other friends who took lessons from Emma, and they all said the same.
While I was in Egypt, I taught English to supplement my income, so I know how difficult
it is to teach a foreign language. Emma was patient, flexible, knowledgeable, and always
cheerful.
Sadly, Emma had to end the tutorship after starting her studies at AUC. I was
disappointed, to say the least. But I wish her the best, and I know she’ll succeed,
whatever she does.
If you have any further questions about my experience with Emma, I would be happy
to answer them. Just send me an email to the address listed above.
Sincerely,
Blake M. Edwards
