Concept Exploration
Concept: Evolve: To come forth gradually, especially from a simple
identity into a more complex form; unroll; unfold
Concept Statement:To create spaces that will build upon the traditional hotel
experience. It will be a hotel that stands out and shows different traits to set
apart with bringing sustainability to the forefront, along with bringing the
surrounding community together.
Design Statement:The Haven will be used to advance the ideal of functioning
spaces that are aesthetically pleasing at an affordable price for what would be
offered as a boutique hotel. To grow upon general hotel amenities, the design will
include the use of individual lighting/heating controls in the room. The hotel will
have multiple public spaces including lounges, restaurant and retail. There are also
lounge areas for the hotel residents on the hotel room floors. There will be
biophilic design implementations both in public and private areas. The hotel will
evolve through the use of different technologies in different areas of the building.
The Haven is meant to be a starting point for other local hotels to follow in the
Springfield, MO area.

With the Haven, the first two floors are
specifically set up for the public to be able
to access.The third-sixth floors are
specifically set up for only hotel guests and
employees to access. Overall, it gives a
connection to the community while also
working as a hotel by giving private
spaces for hotel guests.There’s 12’-0”
between each floor, 10’-0” being the ceiling
height, unless noted otherwise on the
reflected ceiling plans.
