and generation of 3 concepts based on
the 3 characteristics chosen
5. Development of 3 concepts //
Poles Intersection Aerodynamic Shape Inclined walls
According to the characteristics chosen from research, 3 concepts were created corresponding to each characteristic.
After evaluation of concepts regarding mostly comfort, mechanical behaviour, ventilation, easy set-up, weight
and aesthetics, the second concept (aerodynamic shape) was chosen for further exploration.
The changes made were:
- change of width at 120 cm and height at 115cm ( became more spacious)
- 2 entrances instead of one entrance and two windows
- easy set-up mechanicsm
- clips for the fabric to be attached to the poles
- straps made out of rubber for elasticity
6. The Final concept //
Materials, Mechanical behaviour in 8 Beaufort(3seasons tents durability), Weight
Material chosen for Fabric:
Spectra Polyethylene
(maximize tensile strength,
minimize density)
Material chosen for Poles:
Magnesium and Alumimium Alloy
(maximum fracture toughness to density)
Production Process chosen for poles
having a width les than 1mm: Extrusion
Calculated tense on poles
8. Easy Set up //
Poles are always attached together in a cylinder, which turns to make them intesect. After that the cylinder is pegged
in the strap.
Set-up MechanismHuman body in and outside the tent
9. The Final concept // Brand Development and Final proposal
The tent consists of only two poles, the green and the red one.
Along the inner fabric there are clips every 30cm that are
attached to the poles when the tent’s set. It has two big doors
and two fabrics for maximum ventilation. The inner fabric is
transparent and the lysheet covers the tent and protects the
user. The straps are made of a combination of plastic for stability
and rubber (the red one) for lexibility so as not to tear easily
during years of use. Through the mechanism described above,
the setting up is easy and fast, since the poles are always
attached. Lastly, its dimensions are 220X120X115 cm and
weighs only 1,35kg. The brand was also created under the name
“Solano”, which is a word that combines the word “Sol”=sun
and the greek word “άνω” which means “up”, motivating the user
to go out in the nature and enjoy the sun above him.

Aesthetics
User // Personas
12. Development of 3 concepts //
Three concepts based on organic form and minimal style were created. After evaluation, the most user-friendly was
the second, so it was further developed.
14. The Final concept //
The inal concept is a tableware set for oil, vinegar, salt and
pepper that expresses premium style. Its is made out of double
glass and the “bubble” on the top is made out of transparent
plastic. The user squeezes the bubble and this way the suction of
oil and vinegar is succeeded. The salt and the pepper are the
same. In order to be distinguished, the salt has 3 holes for
the salt to go out, whilst the pepper has only two holes.
The height of the bottles for oil and vinegar is 20 cm and their
diameter 6 cm, having a capacity of 350ml, while the containers
for salt and pepper are 8 cm and their diameter is 3cm.

Topic - Product Design
Completed - Spring semester of academic year 2013-2014
Time-Scale - 2 months, along with other projects
Role - Individual project
The Brief //
Design of a product or system which could be applied
in a secondary school garden in urban areas.
The dimensions must not exceed 60X40cm and it must
have the potential of expanding.
17. Final concept //
The concept consists of three cylinders, in which the plants are growing.
Inspired from the idea of the compost bin, each one of the cylinder is used
as a compost cylinder at irst. The compost is being collected from the students
and is put into the cylinder. They leave it for 15 days and after that period,
the cylinder is ready to be planted. During the period of the 15 days, the
students can observe the changes that are processed to the compost and
how it ends up to be soil. After that period, the students can plant normally.
Mostly the cylinders can be used for lowers and decorative plants.
The cylinders are made from wood and the lids on the top are made from
elastic polymer. The dimension of each cylinder is 50 cm height and 10 cm
diameter. After the students have completed this process, they can hang them
on the hanging system, which is 50 cm width and 65 cm height and is made
from metal. Then they can continue growing and taking care of the planted
cylinders and also enjoy a nice hanging garden in the school yard.

The Brief //
Design of a kitchen trolley for kitchens of at least 12qm.
Our target group are couples, aging above 35 years
old. Its aesthetics will be modern and based on Hellenic
characteristics so as to be produced in Europe and promote
Hellenism.
19. Research and Development //
Problem framing
Analysis of trends users through videos in the kitchen and anlysis of hellenism to determine the speciications
Characteristics chosen
- Dynamism
- Asymmetry
- Curves
21. Development //
After evaluation of the 3 concepts, it was decided to combine the irst two concepts in order to have the inal one.
The team focused on inding more user-friendly solutions and simplify the form of the these two concepts.
22. Final concept //
Materials: beech and oak wood, pvc, plexiglass, rubber.
The concept is an auxiliary furniture for kitchens, on which the user
has the possibility to use as storage space but also as an additional
equipment in order to facilitate simultaneous actions that must be
performed during his activitires in the kitchen. The main design's
goal is to create an object that covers the major needs arising at
work in the kitchen, helping to prevent mistakes and accidents.
At the top of the trolley there is separate space for spices and herbal
teas (right picture), as well as notches for positioning of most
commonly used knives(left picture). It contains two additional
sliding auxiliary surfaces, making it easier for the user to accomplish
his activities and a stand for the placement of kitchen paper.
On the left, using the sma hooks additional tools can be hanged,
while at the bottom there is a specially designed place for fruit.
Dimensions: 55X60X90cm

Problem framing
Identifying Walter Zeischegg’s characteristics. We focused on 10mm Amplitude ans repetitive curves, the characteristics
on which Sinus Ashtray is based.
26. Final concept //
The tableware set consists of two bowls, two plates, a fork, a knife,
a spoon and a pair of chopsticks. The irst step was to look for a range
of bowls and plates and then pick the right sizes and shapes for our
products. We decided to have two dimensions for the plate to make
the whole appearance more diverse. Then we used the vacuum forming
machine to make the form of our tableware. The aim except for using
Walter Zeischegg’s characteristics was to be stackable and user-friendly.
So we were very careful on how we could design the sinus curve on it.
Especially in the chopstics, the fork and the knife, the main dificulty
was to be ergonomic in the user’s hand. We succeeded that too, after
trying and failing many times and the result was very satisfying.
27. Armchair and Stool // Internship in HOMAD
6
Product - Furniture
Topic - Product Design
Completed - Spring semester of academic year 2014-2016
Time-Scale - 2 months, along with other projects
Role - Team Project of 2 people
The Brief //
Design of an armchair and stool for furniture company
HOMAD according to its style.
28. Development //
During my internship, the company assigned to me the design of her new, comfortable armchair,
which would also have a similar stool. I co-operated with the main designer of the company for
this project and we made several sketches to ind out the form of it. When the form of the armchair
was found, i made all the necessary calculations and 3d models. The next step was to design a
stool too.
29. Final Concepts//
During my 4-month internship, i had the chance to see a project
i worked on be manufactured from the company. The armchair
was actually made, but the stool didn’t. The project contained
many ergonomical calculations (height of the arm, width,
comfortability) which i succeeded to determine properly.
This was the irst project i made with HOMAD’s team and
after that we made various furniture including beds, couches
and bedside tables.
