Job Purpose:

The ICT Operation Management role provide a single cohesive guide in the implementation and
through life support of all ICT system that support UKMFTS in the delivery of Training and support
activities. I am accountable to the Head of Systems Integration for all Project and Risk Management
activities on the Information, Communication and Technologies (ICT) Programme including Pipeline
Flow Management Tool (PFMT), Learning Content Management System (LCMS) and Training
Management Information System (TMIS) projects and report on the Infrastructure Management at
Ascent Headquarters.
I am also responsible for managing the interfaces and inter-dependencies that exist for the Project
and for ensuring that available ICT resources are effectively deployed by assisting the Head of
Systems Integration in establishing roles processes and working practices necessary for Ascent to
effectively manage its business operations
Dimensions:
Summarise any numerical facts and figures that are relevant to the scale and degree of activity of the job such

Annualised financial data (e.g. costs/orders/sales/revenue budgets)

Other relevant statistics (e.g. projects managed / payroll costs)
Manage the annual ICT Budget of £860,000 to support the Ascent ICT infrastructure.
Manage additional payroll costs of £70,000.
Responsible for direct payroll costs of £100,000.
I currently have 1 member of staff the TMIS master scheduler reporting to me and over see 5
members of the Babcock ICT support team indirectly.
I am manage the following projects:
Training Management Information System (TMIS)
Pipeline Flow Management Tool (PFMT) Project circa £500k
Learning Content Management System (LCMS)
Manage the annual Ascent contacted spend covering the systems:
Ascent ICT installation.
Human Resource Net ( HR Net)
Epicor System Ascent CRM system)
Ascent infrastructure review.
I ensure that project plans created by the ICT, GBTE and infrastructure suppliers to ensure they are
consistent with the delivery of a cost effective and low risk training service.
Provide advice and expertise to the ICT Programme team to assist them in carrying out their day to
day activities. Review issues highlighted by the ICT programme team prior to escalation to senior
management.
Coach and support the ICT Programme team in creating and maintaining strong, lasting relationships
with customers, suppliers and other project stakeholders and positively promote a partnering ethos.

Ensure that the relevant project management processes and working practices established within
Ascent are adhered to by the ICT Programme team.
Generate targets and performance objectives for the ICT Programme team which are commensurate
with Ascent’s business objectives. Regularly review the team's performance against them and
address any shortfalls.
Review and provide oversight and guidance to risk management activities within the ICT programme
team.
Provide necessary guidance and support to the ICT Programme team at meetings with the customer
to discuss issues relating to the projects.

The ICT manager’s position is the central focal point for the control, management and
implementation of all ICT hardware and software within Ascent. The position provide
standardisation for policy and information management for current and future projects.
Accountabilities:

Accountable to the Head of Systems Integration all Project and Risk Management activities on the
Information, Communication and Technologies (ICT) Programme including Pipeline Flow
Management Tool (PFMT), Learning Content Management System (LCMS) and Training Management
Information System (TMIS) projects.
Accountable to the Head of Systems Integration for the Infrastructure Management at Ascent
Headquarters.
Responsible for managing the interfaces and inter-dependencies that exist for the Project and for
ensuring that available ICT resources are effectively deployed.
Assisting the Deputy Managing Director in establishing roles processes and working practices
necessary for Ascent to effectively manage its business operations.
Accountable to the Head of Systems Integration for the management of information and
management exploitation within the Company.
Responsible for Continuous service improvement within the ICT Programme including Pipeline Flow
Management Tool (PFMT), Learning Content Management System (LCMS) and Training Management
Information System (TMIS) projects.
Key Performance Indicators:
The outputs that this job must achieve over the next 6 – 12 months, which correlate to the accountabilities
1. Provide support for RCT CICD.
2. Provide support for AJT CICD.
3. Develop and deliver TMIS Training across UKMFTS.
4. Develop configuration management of all Ascent ICT holdings.
5. Create and deliver a schedule of work to support and implement forthcoming TMIS changes
across UKMFTS.
6. Create a centralised information reporting system to support TMIS and all commercial activities.7.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
What skills, qualifications and experience are necessary for full and effective performance?
An understanding of DSAT and its effects on the TMIS system.
Understanding of the Mod ICT system including accreditation and support interfaces.
An experienced Network Managers with proven experience.
Proven experience in project management and project support.
Proven experience in the support and implementation of Training management systems.
Proven experience in working in the training environment and support of training sites.
Experience in managing an output based service management environment.
Understanding the management of information exploitation
Understanding the business and sites Business needs.
