5. Good Food Project
100B: Fundamentals of Archi-
tectural Design
This Architectural Design
Studio engages the pursuits of
research, knowledge, design
and technologies. The intent
is to understand the potential
that design has to activate
our collective disciplinary
responsability.
Students were asked to use
this research to conceptualize
a large design approach for
a hybrid program organized
around the thematic concept
of food.
The project main idea
revolves around the shifting
of volumes, with a central
atrium that acts as a space
that unifies all the programs,
and provides a space with
sufiecient light and views to
engage the users and their
visitors.

9. James R. Boyce
Affordable Housing
Competition (Winners)
Winners of the James R.
Boyce Affordable Housing
design competition of Fall
2015, and 2nd place in the
2016 Circus showcase in
the College of Environmental
Design in its category.
This studio class assisted
the city of Richmond by
assessing several city-owned
and privately held lands
and designing an Affordable
Housing project considering
thoughtful community
analysis, project design and
an understanding of their
development’s overall social
and financial feasibility.
This interdisciplinary
studio engaged students
from Architecture, city and
regional planning, and
landscape architecture to
consider all aspects of the
development and design of
a comprehensive affordable
housing project.

Experimental Floating
Theater
100D: Architectural Design IV
We were asked to design an
experimental floating theater
located in Berkeley’s Marina
district, that could be towed to
various Bay Area Cities in the
future.
Some of the Design
Goals include creating a
facility which fosters and
encourages creativity and
community participation
among paying and
non-paying visitors, students,
visiting professionals and the
staff .
Main design concept derives
from an eroding box, whose
landscapes and spaces are
carved out from the main
volume, allowing for different
transparencies to emerge
from within the structure
and allowing for different
performance spaces to
emerge from its landscapes.
