Mathematics Department Mission Statement
The mission of the Badger High School Mathematics Department
is to provide an educational experiencein mathematics that
prepares studentsfor successful roles in post-secondary
education or the work force. This is accomplished through
teachers’ commitments to excellent teaching, awell-designed
curriculum, and a supportive environment for all to ensure our
students take pride and ownership in their education with a high
level of accuracy, quality,and responsibility.
In support of our mission:
A) The math department will maintain high academic and behavioral
expectations; make every classroom minute count and make efforts to
drive students to realize their full potential.
B) Teachers will work for every student to improve their math skills.
This will be accomplished by all teachers continually working on
curriculum to teach effectively and coherently, evaluating students’
needs through standard based grading, collaborating, incorporating
technology into their classroom/teaching, facilitating a deep level of
understanding/learning, helping students make real connections
between math and their daily lives, and continually utilizing the
mathematical practices of the CCSSM.
C) Students are to take responsibility for their education. This will be
accomplished by all students working and interacting positively with
teachers and other students while respecting everyone’s ideas as they
think critically, solve problems, and communicate mathematically.
Students are expected to take advantage of the multiple testing
opportunities, labs, resources, and summer school opportunities for
improvement and/or enrichment as provided by the mathematics
department.
