Abstract
In November 2016, Dunton Environmental was invited by Hasky Environmental Protection to carry out a bench scale
trial on heavy metal contaminated soil (Severely Contaminated). Dunton Environmental created a mix design product
using Regener 8-19 solution as the primary catalyst, coupled with other reagents. This mix design product was
developed to reduce the concentration of heavy metal contaminants within the soil.
The trial treatment was conducted at the Tianjin trial site. All the samples were tested by the ALS Group.
This trial successfully proved the capability of the Regener8-19 solution to treat heavy metal contaminated soil, and
therefore, significantly reduce the risk of harm to human health and the environment from this material.
Regener 8-19 Technical Background
Regener 8-19 is applied to soils that are polluted with various heavy metal contaminants. The product acts to alter the
chemical environment within the solid matrix, allowing the reduction of the heavy metals from the solid. Regener 8-19
is applied in a liquid or powder medium to the solid waste by a variety of mechanisms depending on the nature and
composition of the soil or solid waste. On site, Regener 8-19 is mixed and distributed homogenously through the soil
or solid waste via Dunton Environmental’s Soterion batching plant; Dunton Environmental’s Stabilisation Unit or
Dunton Environmental’s Allu mixing process.
Regener 8-19 comprises specific metal-binding polymers that interact with the contaminants designated for reduction.
The chemical process involves the exchange of ions between the Regener 8-19 solution and the metals present with
the solid matrix, leading to the binding and immobilisation of the heavy metal contaminants.

Technical Case Study
Project Background
Hasky Environmental Protection Science & Technology Development
Co., Ltd is an integrated service provider of environmental protection.
Hasky has been offering integrated solutions for a wide array of
industry requirements including, water and river monitoring,
engineering consulting, project management, core equipment
manufacturing, investment and operation, urban water management,
ecological restoration, and VOC control.
Dunton (Beijing) visited Hasky for a technical meeting on Dunton’s
heavy metal remediation technology in November 2016. After the
meeting, Hasky showed an interest in Dunton’s technology, and
commissioned Dunton to carry out a bench scale trial treatment.
Due to commercial protection reasons, Hasky cannot provide Dunton
any information related to the sampled soil.
After receiving the sample from Hasky, Dunton commissioned ALS
chemical laboratory to determine the initial heavy metal concentration
of the sample.
Solution
Regener 8-19 was used to reduce the heavy metal content within the
soil. The treatment occurred after baseline sample was obtained on the
2016/12/6. The soil was sampled after the first treatment on the
2017/3/15. After the second treatment (2017/4/24), the soil was
sampled on the 2017/4/24, 2017/5/12, and 2017/9/22.

Technical Case Study
Conclusion
Aluminum and Iron concentrations with the soil sample were reduced by 77.70% and 28.40%, respectively. Although
the starting concentration of Lead is far lower than the contaminated soil national standard, the treatment reduced the
lead concentration by 18.40%.
As a result of this trial, the Regener 8-19 product has proven its capability to significantly reduce heavy metal
contaminants within the soil samples provided by Hasky.
Since the trial testing was carried out on a small scale, it would be beneficial to have a further cooperation with Hasky
to undertake a large-scale, on-site pilot project, to further prove the effectiveness of the Regener 8-19 product and to
demonstrate the ease of usage of the product under normal working conditions.
