2. What is ATP ?
Available-to-Promise (ATP) is a business function that provides response to
customer order enquiries, based on resource availability. It generates
available quantities of the requested product and delivery due dates. Given
the quantity that the customer is ordering, ATP gives the expected ship
date based on the quantity on-hand
The basic formula for ATP is ATP = On-hand + Supply – Demand
On-hand - Nettable quantity on hand
Supply - Planned orders, Scheduled receipts (purchase orders, purchase
requisitions, discrete jobs and repetitive schedules) and suggested
repetitive schedules
Demand - Sales orders, component demand from planned orders, discrete
jobs, suggested repetitive schedules

5. Define ATP Rule
ATP rules let you tailor the ATP calculation to suit your business needs. Each rule is a
combination of ATP computation options, time fence options, and supply and demand
sources to use during an ATP inquiry.
