MEMORANDUM FOR 109AW SELECTION BOARD
FROM: TSgt Shawn M. Talbot
SUBJECT: Letter of Recommendation for SSgt Andrew James
1. I have had the fortunate opportunity to be SSgt James’s Flight Chief for more than two years.
During this time, SSgt James’s positive attitude and ‘mission comes first’ approach was always
evident. In my experience, SSgt James’s work ethic is admirable; he is always dependable and
meticulous when performing a task. Moreover, in spite of the ‘24/7’ demands of Munitions
tasking, SSgt James has still found the time for many outside events which promote the 109th
Airlift Wing.
2. He is a sincere and intelligent individual who is committed to the success of the Air National
Guard. In my many conversations with him, I have always found him to be honest, hard working,
and motivated. He is already an excellent representative of our Wing and would be an excellent
addition to the Communications Squadron.
3. SSgt James always demonstrates his commitment to the unit while displaying great personal
pride. He practices the Air Force core values on a daily basis. He is always a great asset to the
Munitions section and has implemented new procedures regarding our electronic munitions
document control procedures.
In addition to working in his own career field, SSgt James has participated in numerous other
activities supporting the 109th
:
 In 2008, he was an active participant in the Counterdrug program.
 In 2009, SSgt James performed as a temporary fulltime member of the Munitions
Section, and as such was an integral part of earning this section a grade of Outstanding
during the sections Maintenance Standards and Evaluations Program inspection.
 In the latter part of 2009, he became a temp AGR performing duties with the Base Honor
Guard
These events reinforce SSgt James’s continued commitment to help the community while
ensuring a positive image for the wing.
4. I have no hesitation in strongly recommending that SSgt Andrew James be selected for the
Communications flight position within the 109th
Airlift Wing. Please feel free to contact me at
x2685 if you have any questions concerning SSgt James or this recommendation.
