1. VERMONT AIR NATIONAL GUARD
158TH MAINTENANCE GROUP (ACC)
SOUTH BURLINGTON VERMONT
8 April 2009
MEMORANDUM FOR: To whom it may concern:
FROM: 158th
Fighter Wing MXMW
SUBJECT: Letter of Recommendation for Andrew James.
1. It is with my great pleasure that I recommend Andrew James for the fulltime position with in your
section. I have worked with Andrew for 5 plus years while he was assigned to the Vermont Air National
Guard (VTANG) as a Munitions Craftsman and during this period it was clearly evident that Andrew has
a high knowledge and understanding of today’s Information Technologies and this was demonstrated
numerous times throughout his career in the VTANG. Because of Andrews keen ability to determine the
needed IT requirements to setup numerous Air Force directed programs, this unit successful transitioned
from Legacy programs such as Combat Ammunition System- Base (CAS-B) to the current web based
Combat Ammunition System (CAS). Andrews’s high degree of initiative and aptitude in the IT field
allowed this section to implement Munitions Control 2000. This Microsoft Access based program allows
our Element to track various types of Explosives, Munitions specific equipment and personnel status.
Close coordination with on base agencies such as the 158th
Fighter Wing Communication Flight as well as
off base program Functional Mangers was needed to bring this program to an operational status, Andrew
flawlessly exhibited the skills required to do this. In closing, we were saddened when Andrew left the
158th
Fighter Wing, his knowledge and drive has been hard to replace, however we realize that where ever
and what ever Andrew ends up doing, the recipient of our loss will receive a dedicated individual with an
exceptional ability to get the job accomplished on time and done correctly.
