ASAP 141h Annual Stateivide Conference, May 5-8, 2013
As the dust settles from our 14th Annual Statewide Conference in Buffalo, I wish to
extend my sincere thanks for your support and partnership as our Audio-Visual
Sponsor. Over 500 attendees from acrossNew York State attended theMay
conference representing top management level professionals from prevention,
treatment and recovery providers, addiction doctors and nurses, educators, state and
federal policymakers and direct care staff. We were also pleased to welcome treatment
professionals from theNew York and Canadian Native Communities.
It was our ho or to have you involved with the conference. With budget constraints and
so many demands on your time, your willingness to help us - at a savings of over
$20,000! - with the most challenging and demanding facet of the conference is beyond
appreciated. Your masterful skills at handling the audio/virual needs of over 100
speakers with up to 10 concurrent sessions happening at once is stunning to watch.
Your presence gives the meeting's atmosphere a sense of calm. We can't begin to
imagine doing this meeting without you!
As you know, ASAP is the only statewide organization with a primary focus on serving
and advocating for individuals, organizations, and communities concerned about the
impact of addiction and the need to have it addressed appropriately as a public health
issue. As demonstrated at our conference, ASAP has the ability to coordinate with and
mobilize a large network of individuals, service providers, and coalitions throughout the
state to bring their interests to the public and to the legislature, while keepng them
informed about important policy and service issues. Working with you is paramount on
many levels. Lending us your technology know-how, equipment and time, helps us
disseminate vital information to all conference attendees is one such level. Even more
significant is our alignment with you in standing together against the devastating effects
substance use disorders can have on our children, families and communities.
On behalf of all of us at ASAP and the substance use disorder prevention, treatment
and recovery field inNew York State, thank you.
