Advanced Manufacturing Technologies
(Modern Machining, Advanced Joining, and Sustainable
Manufacturing)
To be published in the Springer Book Series:
“Materials Forming, Machining and Tribology”
Series Editor
Prof. JP Davim
Book Volume Editor
Dr. Kapil Gupta
Purpose and Scope of the Book
The more stringent requirements for enhanced quality of engineered products,
especially those of miniature size and made from difficult-to-machine materials; the
increased global competitiveness; and the strict environmental regulations have
largely been responsible for the development and subsequent wide use of advanced
manufacturing technologies.
In general, advanced manufacturing technologies encompass modern
manufacturing techniques and advancements in the existing or conventional
manufacturing; and offer excellent part quality, cost-effectiveness, and high
productivity with less environmental footprint. Some of these technologies such as
modern machining methods, advanced repair and joining processes, and
sustainable manufacturing techniques are primarily focused in this book. Modern
machining of composites and glasses, precision repair of mechanical components,
advanced welding and micro-joining, environmentally-benign machining and
product life cycle sustainability etc. are the major topics to be included in this
book.
The main purpose to bring-out this book volume is to facilitate the academic and
research community by offering the theoretical background, novel aspects,
research advances and applications of advanced manufacturing technologies. This
book will also enable and encourage the researchers to explore the field and
develop the technology further with an objective to find the solutions for the major
industrial problems, and to work for the societal benefits.
It will be highly appreciated if you can circulate this call-for-book-chapter to
your colleagues who may be interested in it.
Thank you

Submission and Deadlines
The book is to be published by Springer International Publishing, Cham-
Switzerland, under the series – Materials Forming, Machining and Tribology, and
anticipated to be released by April 2017.
Abstract/Proposal Submission: Authors are invited to submit an extended
abstract or a chapter proposal of 2-3 pages on or before March 31, 2016. Authors
of accepted abstracts/proposals will be notified by April 30, 2016 along with the
instructions for preparing the manuscript and final submission.
Full Chapter Submission: Full chapters are expected to be submitted by July 31,
2016. Chapters have to be no more than 25 pages length and will be reviewed by
two expert reviewers to ensure the quality of the volume. Camera-ready version of
