Polyporus hispidus
Symptoms:
Hard branch – drying and rotting –
death
Control: cuts – wounds- fungicide.
Affected branches cut – burn.

Causative organism:
Botryodiplodia theobromae
Symptoms:
Greenish-black lesions- dark-black
Control: cuttings – soaked –
bavistin – 12 hours.

Symptoms:
Black patches – cuttings –
sprouted shoot – wilt - die
Control: fungicides – antagonistic

Causative organism:
Fusarium pallidorosum
Transmitted – soil and air
Symptoms:
Irregular black patches – stem
surface.
Control: inoculum – captafol or
Dithane M-45 at 0.5% - soil.

Causative organism:
Sclerotium rolfsii
Symptoms:
Withering of leaves – stem brown-
drop down and dies.

Phorma exigua
Symptoms:
Tender – pale brown – swollen –
splits – branches – dry.
Control: as for other stem diseases

Pythium aphaanidermatum
Symptoms:
Water-soaked patches – ground
level – brown – dark-black.
Control: as for other stem diseases

1. Powdery Mildew Disease
Causative organism:
Phyllactinia corylea
Leaf yield 40% - aug-dec – post rainy season –
wind – 7-8 days.
Symptoms:
Powdery pathes – ventral side – leaf – later –
entire leaf covered.
Yellowish brown – black – dry – leathery – fall off.
Control: mildew resistant MR1, MR2
Spacing – reduce humidity – harvest –intime –
picking – burning – leaves
Spraying – morestan, karathane
Dusting – sulphur, Lime
Predator – Yellow and white spotted lady beetles

Cercospora leaf spot disease:
Causative organism:
Cercospora moricola
June-Dec – 15% leaf loss – rainy
season – raindrops - wind.
Symptoms:
Whitish spots – circular- falling off.
Control: removal of weeds –
picking – burning
Spraying – fungicide

Causative organism:
Fusarium solani
Symptoms:
Upper half of branch – wither –
burnt – tip and mid vein – yellow –
disintegration – chlorophyll – stop
apical growth.
Control: Bavistan – Dithane M –
spray.

Causative organism:
Aecidium mori
Dangerous – mature leaves – aug-
sep.
Symptoms:
Rusty brown spots – pin head –
both sides - deformed.
Control: picking – burning
Spraying – fungicide

Causative organism:
Colletoctrichium llindemuthianum
Noticed – china – rainy – post rainy
seasons.
Symptoms:
Reddish brown – oval – margin – 8-
15 mm – wither off.
Control: Blitox – suppress –
mycelial growth
