5. EVM Setting at RETURNING OFFICER Level - I
• Fix DMM in OFF mode of Control Unit
(without DMM, CU will display INVALID OPERATION)
• No DMM - No Work
• In case of changing DMM
• PRESS Close - Result (I & II) - Clear
Result - I will display Data stored in CU
Result - II will display Data stored in DMM
Clear will erase all Data from CU as well as DMM (in 15 sec)
• Insert a new DMM

6. EVM Setting at RETURNING OFFICER Level - II
• Keep first 10 Buttons of BU - 1 in OPEN position
(These buttons act as KEY BOARD for data entry)
Keep END Button of BU - 1 also in OPEN position
(END button SAVEs the data and Completes the Process)
• For Rural Body Elections, connect B3 (सद य-िजला पंचायत ) with B2,
B-2 (सद य-जनपद पंचायत ) with B-1 and B-1 (सरपंच ) with CU.
• For Urban Body Elections, connect B-2 (पाषद ) with B-1 and B-1
(महापौर / अ य नगर पा लका ) with CU.
• Switch ON the EVM

7. EVM Setting at RETURNING OFFICER Level - III
• EVM will ask Ward Number
Enter WARD No. in four digits - 0001 (Save by pressing END Button)
• EVM will ask Booth Number
Enter BOOTH No. in four digits - 0001 (Save by pressing END Button)
• EVM will ask Number of Posts
Enter 1 / 2 / 3 as applicable, in one digit only.
• EVM will ask Number of Seats
Enter 1 (For each post in M.P., there is only ONE seat)

8. CANDIDATE Setting at RETURNING OFFICER Level
• CU will ask position of the first candidate for Post (P-1)
Enter 1
• CU will ask position of the last candidate for Post (P-1)
Enter 1, then 3 to make 13 (if you have 12 candidates + NOTA)
• CU will ask position of the first and the last candidate for P-2 and
P-3 respectively.
Enter 1 for the first candidates
Enter appropriate no. for the last candidates

9. EVM Setting for REAL POLL at Polling Station
• Leave only those Buttons OPEN which corresponds to
candidates and NOTA. CLOSE all other Buttons.
• Close END Buttons in all Ballot Units (B-1, B-2, B-3).
