in the US containing over 3,500 inmates spread out over 5 sections along with one Women's Services
ARNP in another section and another OBS/GYN who came 1 day a week to manage then deliver the
pregnant inmates at an outside hospital and perform cone biopsies, D+C's and hysterectomies. Handled
Gynecological care, including Colposcopy and Cryotherapy for Lowell and 5 other correctional sites,
emergent Obstetrical care the other 4 days of the week and supervised the ARNP.
Provider of Primary Care – outpatient and infirmary – for hepatitis C, diabetes, hypertension, lipidemia,
thyroid disease, asthma, COPD and epilepsy along with other Family Medicine ARNP in my section and
another Internal Medicine Physician in another section.
At a minimum, I typically saw 25 to 30 patients with maybe 20 more chart encounters to manage abnormal
tests, co-sign nursing orders and field a slew of phones call from other ancillary staff each day, Monday
thru Friday.
[If this sounds excessive, it was since Corizon lost their contract with the Florida Department of
Corrections in December 2015 and subsequently left April 30, 2016 due to an inability to fulfill its
requirements from insufficient provider staffing that led to my departure.]
