Wheel and axle

2. Is another type of simple machine found in
the body.
It is actually a lever.

3. The wheel and axle is generally considered
to be a wheel attached to an axle so that
these two parts rotate together in which a
force is transferred from one to the other.
OR
A wheel and axle is a lever that rotates in a
circle around a center point or fulcrum.
The larger wheel (or outside) rotates around
the smaller wheel (axle).

4. It is typically used
to increase the force exerted &
to lift weights.

5. Bicycle wheels, the doorknob, Steering
wheels and gears are all examples of a wheel
and axle.
Wheels can multiply distance and speed as
well as force.
Bicycles have large wheels so they go faster.

8. The mechanical advantage of the wheel and
axle is the ratio of the distances from the
fulcrum to the applied loads, same like lever.
I.e.
MA= Radius of Wheel
Radius of Axle
