1. Significant contributions Teaching: for the last 3 years: DR B.JOSEPH
a)Teaching: Since last two years I was Heading the Department of Forestry and Department
of Agronomy College of Agriculture, Rajenderngar. During teaching period of last two and
half years I have handled two courses on Foresstry: i) Principles and practices of Social
Forestry-AGRO 302 and Forestry and Forest products and their utilization FRST 201.
I taught this two courses to the B.Sc(Agriculture) III year Undergraduate students at College
of Agriculture, Rajenderngar, Hyderabad. For effective teaching to the students a Practical
Manual for the course AGRO 302 has been prepared and published by me and being
used by all the III year Undergraduate students of B.Sc (Agriculture), who have registered
AGRO 302 course at PJTSAU University, Telangana state. All the students who have
registered AGGRO 302 this course since last 10 years none of them have failed in this
course.
I was Director, for Final year AELP students of Agriculture for 3 years and taught the
students about Teak Nursery raising and helped students to learn about the Development of
Wastelands and also Agroforestry an Alternate Land use system for semir arid regions of
Telangana state. Developed different models of Agroforestry for the benefit of farmers of
southern Telangana zone.
While in teaching I got sanctioned a Adhoc project on Medicinal and Aromatic
Plants sanctioned by the Telangana Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Board for 2 years @ Rs
4 laksh each per year at Department of Forestry, College of Agriculture, Hyderabad, I was
Principal Investigator of the project for 2 years. Nursery raising project for 2 years i.e. 2012-
2013 and 2013 to 2014. In the project I have raised 50000 medicinal plants viz Tulsi,
Nelavamu, Aswagandha, curryleaf, sandal wood, redsanders, Amla, at the Department of
Forestry College of Agriculture, for 2 years. The total project sanctioned amount was R 8
lakhs.
b) Significant contributions in Research: As a Principal Scientist (Agronomy) at RS and
RRS, Nizamabad District, I have done afforestation programme on 30 acres of wasteland
by planting different block plantations of Tamarind, Amla, Guava, Mango by taking
forestry seedlings 15000 numbers at free of cost from the Social forestry nursery raising
units of Harithaharam project of Telangana state at Akbar Nagar, Rudrur, Nizambad district
and the plantation programme has been attended by me and my staff by taking the help of
manpower from Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment programme(MNREGS). A
percolation tank measuring (90 m x 90 x 3 m) is in the process of digging by the MNREGS
persons at the research station in the wastelands central located low level area for storing the
rainwater and increasing the ground water levels at the research station.
