Solid Waste Management Challengies for Cities in Developing Countries
The hidden death
1. Nowadays, one of the biggest problems that a nation might face is land and visual
pollutions. It is an issue that makes us worry about our health and economic life.
Wherever you walk on the streets you find blue, white and black bags
stuffed one above the other at the point that you don’tsee where your feet might
lay. Your eyes get tired of such view .Such colored bags not only contaminate the
environment but also with its chemical and gas emissions spread a number of
deadly and incurable diseases such as cancer, plagues and contagious viruses.
The surprising hidden death appeared few months ago and despite the
dangerous effects of land and visual pollutions on people’s life, the government is
still unaware of its outcome on human life. Lebanese people protested against
waste on the streets, ads and campaigns were launched asking the government for
waste solutions.
Many offers, projects and suggestions were studied and looked at but
unfortunately, no long term projects and strategies to get rid of waste were
proposedand supported bythe government.
To conclude, what is really needed is a long term affordable solution that is
based on 3R’s, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle by building factories that transform
these waste into electric power .Such solution is valid and would help maintain
future generations’ life.
