2. Why it resonates with me
I have chosen this topic because education is an extremely
important tool that will help you in any career field one chooses to
take. It is unfair that some have free easy access to education
while others must either work harder for it, or do not have any
accessibility to it at all. Everyone should have the opportunity to
gain basic learning skills that will help them in their everyday lives.
3. How can this be
applied locally?
This can be applied by extending bus routes. When I attended
elementary school, there was no bus that came to my neighborhood,
luckily my grandparents were always available to take me to and from
school. For some students, they may not have anyone that is able to
drive them to their school, resulting in them either missing many days of
the week, or simply not attending school because of the obstacles they
face.
4. Where can I make the greatest
contribution?
A place that I can make a great contribution at could
be a local YMCA. Many of them have ‘after school’
programs where children show up at times when
school is out and hang around in the facility before
being picked up. I could make a trip to this YMCA a
couple days a week and help children out with
anything they may need from homework to life
advice.
5. Is there a feature
of social media
that can be
uniquely applied
to this goal?
Facebook group could be utilized to help
achieve this goal. Students could join groups
based on their specific grade and help each
other understand concepts that they may be
having trouble on.
