Special Features
This unique retreat will combine for the first time two kind of sessions and
activities:
‐A traditional study of Upadesa Saram (the Essence of the Teaching), a
text by Ramana Maharishi in the morning
‐Interactive workshop sessions on Living the Vision of Oneness in the
afternoon will engage participants in group discussions and presentations.
Case studies drawn from personal and work situations, role plays and videos
are utilized.
‐The sessions will be reinforced with meditation practice and meditative
movements.
Venue
The venue, Thiruvannamalai, is one of the most sacred places in the South
India, where thousands of seekers and pilgrims visit to pay respect to
Arunachala and the sage Ramana Maharishi.
Comfortable A/C and non A/C cottages are available within an Ashram at
Thiruvannamalai.
Dates
The classes begin on 17 January early morning and end on 21 January after
lunch. We suggest that the participants arrive in Thiruvannamalai on 16
January, one day before the start of the intensive retreat. Date of departure
should not be later than 21 January. For those who wish to prolong their stay,
please contact us.

2. Donation
The donation for this retreat consists of two elements
(1) Donation to the Ashram (covering accommodation and three vegetarian meals
per day for the entire retreat).
(2) Donation to the teachers (covering all Vedanta sessions, course material, etc. of
the Vedanta teachers).
Indian Residents:
Donation to Ashram: Rs. 1,000 per person per day for non A/C rooms*
(Total cost will be Rs 5,000 from 16‐21 January 2014, 5 nights)
Rs. 1,500 per person per day for A/C rooms*
(Total cost will be Rs 7,500 from 16‐21 January 2014, 5 nights)
Donation to teachers: Rs. 3,000‐Rs.4000 per person
Overseas Residents
Donation to Ashram: USD 16 per person per day for non A/C rooms**
(Total cost will be USD 80 from 16‐21 January 2014, 5 nights)
USD 24 per person per day for A/C rooms**
(Total cost will be USD 120 from 16‐21 January 2014, 5 nights)
Donation to teachers: USD 150 to USD 250 per person
* For Indian nationals, donation to Ashram is exempt from tax under section 80G.
** The exchange rate at present is around 64 rupees for 1 USD.
How to reach
Distance from Chennai and Bangalore airport to Thiruvannamalai is
respectively 189 km and 204 km. The place is accessible only by road from
Chennai or Bangalore. It takes 3 hours from Chennai by taxi or by bus. Taxis
are available from the airport itself.

preferences (single, sharing) and A/C non A/C type of rooms in the comments
field.
Closing date for registration for this retreat is 1 January 2014 and number of
