The mission of my depression research is to help people figure out what they need to help them get out of a depressed state. That is, finding out what is best for them, not what is best for their doctor, friends, therapist, or anyone else. Depression is now a global problem. In the past 15 years it has gotten worse. Depression is complex; it has a wide range of varying symptoms and degrees of intensity. It can be challenging to determine the best course of action, whether medical treatment is necessary, or which of the many treatments (drug and non-drug) is the best match. Many people who are depressed do not get the help they need, and many people receive medications when they are not necessary. My work aims to bring together tools, technology, scientific and medical data and patient experience to help address depression, both personally and globally.

In order to minimize risk and customize interventions, we have to know where and how our clients are living. The picture on the first slide is from geriatric simulation lab, where nursing students practice administering geriatric assessment scales to identify areas of risk. What risks and hazards can you see in this picture? What you can't see is that the V8 Splash bottle is actually whiskey, medications and incontinence briefs are scattered all over the floor and our client is using oxygen via nasal cannula while smoking. Would picking up the trash and organizing the house fix the problem? Fifty percent of the students verbalized wanting to clean up during their assessment visit and some asked if they could tidy up upsetting the client. Every problem deserves a viable solution. A comprehensive geriatric assessment is in order and interventions need to follow by assembling the geriatric team. Our client's assessment findings were all high risk. View assembling the geriatric team "Assessments and Referrals" at http://www.environmentalgeriatrics.org/cme/extra/noCredit.html. Hopefully at minimum the discharging physician ordered the home health care services necessary to bridge our client's hospital to home care. If the geriatric assessment scales were performed prior to hospital discharge the physician should have recognized that with all her high risk findings she should not have been discharged home alone. At minimum she requires 24 hour supervision for safety. The students all felt our client was confused and attributed it to her whiskey drinking, but after performing her Mini Cog they realized she was screening positive for dementia. How many clients slip through the cracks because of lack of assessment? Our client confabulated and was quite convincing until the students saw her clock draw. Now they knew environmental observations were much more important than client self-report. A picture is worth a thousand words. We fail our clients until we learn the assessment skills required to paint an accurate picture.

A person who is diagnosed with cancer will be offered a new alternative to chemotherapy because the traditional treatment of radiation that kills not just cancer cells but healthy human cells as well, causing hair loss, fatigue, nausea, depression, and a host of other symptoms. The application of nanorobotics can be considered as the better solution to this problems. Nanorobots are nanoelectromechanical systems designed to perform a specific task with precision at nanoscale dimensions. This technique involves the development of fully functional nanorobots capable of sensing, decision making, and actuation. From a bio inspired perspective, those in nanorobotics, including core design, propulsion and power generation, sensing, actuation, control, decision making, and system integration. The core of the nanorobots is a polysaccharide based nanoparticle, sensing and actuation ensure that it is capable of sensing and recognizing the cancer cell. These nanorobots may aid in cancer therapy, site-specific drug delivery, circulating diagnostics, advanced surgery, and tissue repair. One of the major advantages of nanorobots is it will not affect healthy cells in human body. Using strategies inspired from microorganisms, potential bioengineered nanorobots can be used for cancer therapy.

Introduction: SEDATIVES CNS depressant drugs , reduce excitement & tension, & produce calmness & relaxation. HYPNOTICS drugs that produce sleep similar to that of natural arousal sleep. Both sedative & hypnotic action may reside in the same drug. A small dose may act as sedative, whereas a large dose of the same drug may act as a hypnotic. SAR of Benzodiazepine: Presence of phenyl ring / pyridyl ring promotes sedative-hypnotic activity at C5-position. If presence of electron withdrawing group like –Cl or –NO2 (Lorazepam, Clonazepam) at R2’ position, then sedative-hypnotic activity . Presence of electron withdrawing group like –Cl, -F, –NO2 at C7 position, activity. Substitution at 6,8,9 position of carbon atom, activity. Shifting of double bond present between –N4 & C5 or saturation of double bond activity. R3 = alkyl group, activity & R3 = -OH or –COOH activity & R1 = -CH3 ,if larger group is present activity. Sleep is mainly loss of consciousness. Sleep is an architectured cyclic process. These drugs maintains the sleep-wake cycle. Insomnia is a symptom & its proper treatment depends on finding the cause of sleeplessness. To treat this type of patient, use sedative-hypnotics. High dose of the drugs may lead to coma or death.

Theoretical predictions and observational data indicate a class of sub-Neptune exoplanets may have water-rich interiors covered by hydrogen-dominated atmospheres. Provided suitable climate conditions, such planets could host surface liquid oceans. Motivated by recent JWST observations of K2-18 b, we self-consistently model the photochemistry and potential detectability of biogenic sulfur gases in the atmospheres of temperate sub-Neptune waterworlds for the first time. On Earth today, organic sulfur compounds produced by marine biota are rapidly destroyed by photochemical processes before they can accumulate to significant levels. Domagal-Goldman et al. suggest that detectable biogenic sulfur signatures could emerge in Archean-like atmospheres with higher biological production or low UV flux. In this study, we explore biogenic sulfur across a wide range of biological fluxes and stellar UV environments. Critically, the main photochemical sinks are absent on the nightside of tidally locked planets. To address this, we further perform experiments with a 3D general circulation model and a 2D photochemical model (VULCAN 2D) to simulate the global distribution of biogenic gases to investigate their terminator concentrations as seen via transmission spectroscopy. Our models indicate that biogenic sulfur gases can rise to potentially detectable levels on hydrogen-rich water worlds, but only for enhanced global biosulfur flux (20 times modern Earth’s flux). We find that it is challenging to identify DMS at 3.4 μm where it strongly overlaps with CH4, whereas it is more plausible to detect DMS and companion byproducts, ethylene (C2H4) and ethane (C2H6), in the mid-infrared between 9 and 13 μm. Understanding circumstellar disks is of prime importance in astrophysics, however, their birth process remains poorly constrained due to observational and numerical challenges. Recent numerical works have shown that the small-scale physics, often wrapped into a sub-grid model, play a crucial role in disk formation and evolution. This calls for a combined approach in which both the protostar and circumstellar disk are studied in concert. Aims. We aim to elucidate the small scale physics and constrain sub-grid parameters commonly chosen in the literature by resolving the star-disk interaction. Methods. We carry out a set of very high resolution 3D radiative-hydrodynamics simulations that self-consistently describe the collapse of a turbulent dense molecular cloud core to stellar densities. We study the birth of the protostar, the circumstellar disk, and its early evolution (< 6 yr after protostellar formation). Results. Following the second gravitational collapse, the nascent protostar quickly reaches breakup velocity and sheds its surface material, thus forming a hot (∼ 103 K), dense, and highly flared circumstellar disk. The protostar is embedded within the disk, such that material can flow without crossing any shock fronts. The circumstellar disk mass quickly exceeds that of the protostar, and its kinematics are dominated by self-gravity. Accretion onto the disk is highly anisotropic, and accretion onto the protostar mainly occurs through material that slides on the disk surface. The polar mass flux is negligible in comparison. The radiative behavior also displays a strong anisotropy, as the polar accretion shock is shown to be supercritical whereas its equatorial counterpart is subcritical. We also f ind a remarkable convergence of our results with respect to initial conditions. Conclusions. These results reveal the structure and kinematics in the smallest spatial scales relevant to protostellar and circumstellar disk evolution. They can be used to describe accretion onto regions commonly described by sub-grid models in simulations studying larger scale physics.

Context. WASP-76 b has been a recurrent subject of study since the detection of a signature in high-resolution transit spectroscopy data indicating an asymmetry between the two limbs of the planet. The existence of this asymmetric signature has been confirmed by multiple studies, but its physical origin is still under debate. In addition, it contrasts with the absence of asymmetry reported in the infrared (IR) phase curve. Aims. We provide a more comprehensive dataset of WASP-76 b with the goal of drawing a complete view of the physical processes at work in this atmosphere. In particular, we attempt to reconcile visible high-resolution transit spectroscopy data and IR broadband phase curves. Methods. We gathered 3 phase curves, 20 occultations, and 6 transits for WASP-76 b in the visible with the CHEOPS space telescope. We also report the analysis of three unpublished sectors observed by the TESS space telescope (also in the visible), which represents 34 phase curves. Results. WASP-76 b displays an occultation of 260±11 and 152±10 ppm in TESS and CHEOPS bandpasses respectively. Depending on the composition assumed for the atmosphere and the data reduction used for the IR data, we derived geometric albedo estimates that range from 0.05 ± 0.023 to 0.146 ± 0.013 and from <0.13 to 0.189 ± 0.017 in the CHEOPS and TESS bandpasses, respectively. As expected from the IR phase curves, a low-order model of the phase curves does not yield any detectable asymmetry in the visible either. However, an empirical model allowing for sharper phase curve variations offers a hint of a flux excess before the occultation, with an amplitude of ∼40 ppm, an orbital offset of ∼−30◦ , and a width of ∼20◦ . We also constrained the orbital eccentricity of WASP-76 b to a value lower than 0.0067, with a 99.7% confidence level. This result contradicts earlier proposed scenarios aimed at explaining the asymmetry observed in high-resolution transit spectroscopy. Conclusions. In light of these findings, we hypothesise that WASP-76 b could have night-side clouds that extend predominantly towards its eastern limb. At this limb, the clouds would be associated with spherical droplets or spherically shaped aerosols of an unknown species, which would be responsible for a glory effect in the visible phase curves.
