BROADCASTING SECTOR
First Newspaper in the India Bengal Gazette
was published in 1780 from Calcutta. First step
to control the press in India was through
regulations issued by Governor General in
1790. Under the regulation it was required to
print the names of the printer publisher
,proprietor & submit all materials for pre
censorship by secretary to the government .

The Act to provide for the establishment of broadcasting
corporation for the India was known as Prasar bharti
(Broadcasting corporation of India )act 1990
8. IT SHALL THE PRIMARY DUTY OF THE CORPORATION TO ORGANIZE &
CONDUCT BROADCASTING SERVICE .
TO INFORM, TO EDUCATE AND ENTERTAIN THE PUBLIC AND TO ENSURE A
BALANCE DEVELOPMENT OF BROADCASTING RADIO & TELEVISION .
TO ESTABLISH & MAINTAIN A LIBRARY OR LIBRARIES OF RADIO ,TELEVISION
AND OTHER MATERIALS .
THE CORPORATION SHALL HAVE POWER TO DETERMINE AND LEVY FEE AND
OTHER SERVICE CHARGES FOR OR IN RESPECT OF THE ADVERTISEMENTS AND
SUCH PROGRAMS AS MAY BE SPECIFIED BY REGULATIONS.
THE CORPORATION SHALL NOT BE SUBJECTED TO ANY CIVIL LIABILITY ON
THE GROUND MERELY THAT IT FAILED TO COMPLY WITH ANY OF THE
PROVISION OF THE SECTION .

10. CINEMATOGRAPH ACT 1952
the cinematograph act 1952 was enacted by parliament to ensure
that films are exhibited in the limit of tolerance of indian society that
is with the wall of aricle 19(1)(A)& Article 19(2) of Indian constitution
to grant certfication (or rejection , as the case may be ) and
regulate the public exhibition of films by means of
cinematography ,sec3 the act provide for the
establishment of CENTRAL BOARD OF FILM
CERTIFICATION (CBFC) popularly known as censor board
11. THERE IS A CHAIRMAN AND 12 - 25 MEMBERS APPONTED BY CENTRAL
GOVERNMENT TO SENCTION AND CERTIFY THE FILM AS UNDER THE FOLLOWING
CATEGORIES
14. CERTIFICATES VALID FOR 10 YEARS AND CERTIFICATE
GRANTED OR REJECTED DEPEND ON THE CASE
If a fim rejected by All Three the film is considered to banned this act also
authorised the police to search & seizure as following procedure laid down in CRPC
15. Therefore it became significant to ensure that films do
not portray Sexism, Communal Hatred, Controversial
Politics, Extreme Violence ,Vulgarity an inappropriate
portrayal of well known figure etc.
