8. Dahej LNG Terminal
● India’s first receiving and regasification plant with current capacity of 15
MMTPA in 2004
● The company is expanding the capacity to 17.5 MMTPA by 2019
● It has 3 LNG tankers, receiving LNG from RasGas - 7.5 MMTPA and the
rest from around the world through short term contracts according to the
demand supply requirement in India.
● Transportation of Regasified LNG is through pipelines managed by PLL’s
promoter - GAIL.
● 7.5 MMTPA of LNG is supplied to GAIL, IOCL and BPCL (60:30:10)
● The rest is supplied to bulk consumers like GSPCL, Reliance, Torrent,
IFFCO etc.
9. Kochi LNG Terminal
● Constructed in Cochin with 5
MMTPA in 2013
● It is receiving 1.5 MMTPA
LNG from Exxon Mobil
Corporation, Australia through
long term contract and the rest
from around the globe through
short contracts.
● PLL is developing LNG
terminal in Gangavaram ,
Andhra Pradesh with capacity
of 5 MMTPA
● The focus will be on supplying
LNG to customers based in
East India.

15. Strengths
● Dahej further expansions to 17.5 MMTPA which will be completed by 2019
● Completion of the Kochi Managalore Pipeline which could be completed in
December 2018
● They are in talks with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka Governments for setting up
regasification units
● Momentum remains strong from increasing demand from Fertilizers and Power
Sector

16. Weakness
● The Kochi terminal continued to operate at a very low capacity utilization due
to lack of evacuation pipelines to Bangalore and Mangalore
● Renewable energy has been developed intensively and their use is increasing
steadily.
