2. Deltoid
Origin :
The anterior border and
adjoining surface of the
lateral one third of the
clavicle.
The lateral border of the
acromion where four septa of
origin are attached .
Lower lip of the crest of the
spine of the scapula.
6. Deltoid
Insertion:
The deltoid tuberosity
of the humerus where
three septa of insertion
are attached.
Nerve supply: Axillary
nerve (C5,C6).
7. Deltoid
Features:
The acromial part of the deltoid
is an example of Multipinnate
muscle.
Many fibers arise from four
septa of origin that are attached
above the acromion.
The fibers converge on to three
septa of insertion which are
attached to the deltoid
tuberosity.
8. DELTOID
Actions:
the Multipinnate acromial fibers
are powerful abductors of the
arm at the shoulder joint from
beginning to 90°.
The anterior fibers are flexors
and medial rotators of the arm.
The posterior fibers are
externsors and lateral rotators of
the arm.
9. Supraspinatus
Origin
medial two – third of the
supraspinous fossa of the
scapula.
Insertion
upper impression on the
greater tubercle of the
humerus.
10. Supraspinatus
Nerve supply
suprascapular nerve(C5,C6)
Actions
along with other short scapular
muscles,it steadies the head of
humerus during movements of
the arm
abductors of shoulder joint from
0-15°
11.
12. Infraspinatus
Origin
medial two – third of the
infraspinous fossa of the
scapula
Insertion
middle impression on the
greater tubercle of the
humerus
14. Teres minor
Origin
upper two- third of the
dorsal surface of the
lateral border of the
scapula as 2 slips
Insertion
lowest impression on the
greater tubercle of the
humerus
20. Teres major
Origin
lower one – third of the
dorsal surface of lateral
borders and interior angle of
the scapula
Insertion
medial lip of the bicipital
groove of the humerus
21. Teres major
Nerve supply
lower subscapular
nerve (C5,C6)
Action
medial rotators
and adductor of
arm
