2. Introduction
This conference promotes the efficient usage of natural
resources for production of renewable energy by rural
agricultural communities in order to ensure food safety and
security; it also promotes the usage of sustainable energy for
various farm activities as well as to conserve water resources and
environment.
The theme of the conference is carefully selected to serve the
interests of governments, private sector and the public as a
whole.
It is great to hold the conference again at Nordic Folkecenter for
Renewable Energy, institution which shows strong commitment
and active leadership in promoting innovation on sustainable
energy.
The conference is an occasion for local and international
researchers to share knowledge and exchange experiences.
In the past, the conference were held eight times: two times in
Germany and one time each in Denmark, China, Canada, Japan,
Malaysia and Iran.

7. Practical Details
The Venue
Nordic Folkecenter for Renewable Energy is a location known
worldwide among energy experts. At the centre, visitors are able
to experience different renewable energy technologies and to
have a complete overview on how could a transition towards a
100% renewable energy society occur.
The conference hall is located in SkibstedFjord, which is an
example of innovative underground architecture. The building,
with its 670 m2 and its 140 places, is the ideal location for
conferences on renewable energy topics, and enjoys a very
pleasant indoor climate in every season.

Accommodation
Accommodation possibilities for the conference delegates are
the following:
Nearby hotels in Hurup Thy (6 km, shuttle bus);
Guest House of Folkecenter;

9. Practical Details
Travelling
The main Danish Airports are Copenhagen (CPH), Billund (BLL)
and Aalborg (AAL).
From Copenhagen airport, Intercity trains with travelling time of
4,5 h departure every hour. Tickets can be bought directly in the
airport.
Folkecenter will offer a one-time pick up from both Billund and
Aalborg airports. Please, contact the national secretariat for more
information.

Weather
Weather in the last week of August is modest with average
temperatures at 12–14°C. Bright sunny days are expected,
however, morning and evening hours are cooler and warm
clothes are recommended.
