 Businesses that are actively working towards more sustainable/renewable
manufacturing and products.
 The following energy sources are considered sustainable:
 Bio-fuel
 Geothermal
 Hydroelectric
 Solar
 Tidal

How do Energy Trends apply to
marketing?
 In the past decade, automotive companies such as Tesla have benefitted from
the sale of all electric vehicles.
 Most if not all auto manufacturers now produce multiple electric or hybrid
vehicles.
 People are more environmentally conscious than ever
What is Green Marketing?
 When a business or manufacturer incorporates green marketing, they work to
provide customers eco-friendly products and services.
 Example: A new furnace that reducing the amount of electricity or gas to heat
a home
How does it relate to Marketing?
 Used to convince consumers to purchase an updated version or model that is
better for the environment.
What is Greenwashing?
 A term used to describe companies who are deceptive about their
environmentally friendly products.
 Example: Premium gasoline. Companies advertise better gas mileage, when
the gain is negligible compared to the increased cost.
How does it relate to Marketing?
 Businesses advertise that their product helps the environment
 The product may not do as much as the advertising portrays
 A deception used to gain consumers
