Dennis Sawyer established Sawyer & Associates in 2012 in Memphis, Tennessee to provide affordable business mentoring to small, disadvantaged businesses. He realized that many entrepreneurs lacked business training, though they had marketable skills, and the poor economy made stability difficult. Sawyer began canvassing minority-owned businesses to help them develop operational processes based on lean principles using his experience. In 2015, Sawyer partnered with Michelle Isom to leverage their combined skills and experience to grow Sawyer & Associates and brand their Modular Process Business Model approach.

Sawyer & Associates was established in 2012 in Memphis Tennessee by Dennis Sawyer
for the purpose of providing small disadvantaged business with affordable business
mentoring. Dennis realized that many small businesses are built around a marketable skill
or product but that the entrepreneur often has little or no business training.
The 2012 economy was not conducive to stability and growth for many businesses. Many
small businesses floundered in the difficult economic environment. Many people lost
their jobs when their employers were compelled to layoff or close.
Entrepreneurship became the only hope for many families. Dennis recognized a need for
micro business and start up mentoring. The plan was to assist these new grassroots
CEO’s in making the most of what they had and lead them to success.
Utilizing his knowledge and experience in business and industry Dennis began to canvas
minority and disadvantaged businesses. He wanted to find ways to help them and himself
without compromising their limited available cash flow.
Dennis built on his vast experience and training to develop a methodology initially called
“Designed Processes”. The system focused primarily on developing operational processes
based on “Lean Principals”. Eventually Designed Processes evolved into what Dennis
now refers to as “The Modular Process Business Model”.
In 2015 Dennis partnered with former sales and marketing executive Michelle Isom. This
symbiosis of skills and experience is designed to propel Sawyer & Associates into its
next phase of growth and the branding of The Modular Process Business Model.
To date Sawyer & Associates remains 100% self invested and the company continues to
carry zero debt. Key to Sawyers business philosophy is to move slow, manage growth
according to a well metered plan and accrue no debt by paying as you grow.
