and induct our newest members
into the Mount Athletics Hall of
Fame. The luncheon and
induction ceremony will take place
at 11:30 am in the Dillon Field
House, followed by a
doubleheader, with the Men's
Basketball Team taking on St.
Francis PA at 2:30 pm, followed
by the Women's Basketball Team
facing off against St. Francis PA
at 5:00 pm.
Mount Family and Friends,
We at the Mount Club hope you had a terrific holiday season and start to the New Year.
Our student-athletes, coaches, and entire administration staff are fortunate to have such
great support from our Mount community and we are excited for the year 2015.
The month of January marks Winter Homecoming Weekend at the Mount which will
feature a men's and women's basketball double-header on Saturday, January 25. We
encourage all of our former student-athletes and supporters to attend the games and
enjoy their time visiting campus. Additionally, before the contests, Dillon Fieldhouse will
play host to the annual Hall of Fame Luncheon set to begin at 11:30 am. If you have an
interest in attending the luncheon, please click the link on the left side of the newsletter in
our 'Save the Date' section.
Our men's and women's basketball programs begin NEC play this month and we are
excited for conference contests to begin. Both the men's and women's programs
competed in NEC Championship games last year. The men's team won and continued
onto the NCAA Tournament, where the women finished runner-up and qualified for the
Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).
Please read through this months newsletter for additional updates, including our second
annual Around The Mount Triathlon. The event has been extremely successful in
encouraging our alumni to visit campus while raising significant support for our athletics
programs. We hope you will consider participating or making a gift towards the event.
Go Mount!

Being an athlete can take its
toll on students. With that
being said, what has been
your favorite class during
your time here?
One of my favorite classes was
Business Law with Professor
Robinson because all of the
stories and hypotheticals he
told were always hilarious and
engaging.

St. Mary's?
I really like the dynamics of the
team when I visited and how
they all seemed to get along
with one another and worked
well together, especially on the
field.
What has been the most
rewarding part of playing
lacrosse here?
The friendships that I have
developed over the years and
when all the time and effort my
teammates and I have put into
lacrosse on and off the field
comes together in a game.
What is your favorite sports
memory?
My freshman year during our
senior game when we were
tied with like eight seconds left
in the game, we cleared the
ball from the defensive end to
our offensive side and scored
as the buzzer went off
to win the game.
Who do you most admire as
your role model?
My mom, she is the strongest
person I know and I can go to
her about anything.
Where do you see yourself in
10 years?
Being successful enough to
vacuum and clean a house of
my own (not my moms).
What is the most significant
challenge you've overcome?
The most significant challenges
I've overcome during my time
here at the Mount would have
to be dealing with the multiple
concussions I have gotten over
the years.
Mount Basketball has kicked into high gear, having played seven games in the month of
December. he team defended its home court against Norfolk State and Binghamton,
winning both games by a combined four points. Additionally, the team traveled to
Baltimore to participate in the 170th edition of the Catholic Clash, and defeated Loyola
by a score of 74-65.
In the remaining four games, the team played road games at Seton Hall University, Old
Dominion University, American University, and the University of Notre Dame.
The team had its first NEC game of the year on January 3 at Robert Morris, ultimately
dropping the contest 45-70. The Mount is currently 0-1 in conference play.
View the schedule and read full recaps to keep up-to-date with every game.
Women's Basketball December Recap
Ready for Conference Play
After winning their only home game of the month at the end of November, the Women's
Basketball team hoped to use that victory as a catalyst for a busy month of December,
with two home games and four games on the road. The team went 1-1 in the home
contests, defeating Coppin State by 16 points on December 10, and fell to Bucknell in
the team's final game before Christmas by a score of 74-49.
The women dropped road games at University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, North
Carolina State, Loyola,and Niagara.
The month of January marks the beginning of NEC play, with a loss at Robert Morris on
January 3. The team hopes to spark their first conference victory as they travel to
Wagner before returning for home games on January 10 and 12.
Make sure you check the schedule to see when the team will be in your area and to
read recaps for every game.
Winter Track and Field Season Gets Underway
Two Meets in December
Mount Club Update - Rudd, Robert G. https://outlook.office365.com/owa/projection.aspx

What is your favorite movie
or television show?
My favorite movie would have
to be Wanted, starring James
McAvoy and Angelina Jolie.
Given that Lacrosse season
starts next month, what did
you do during Winter Break
to keep busy and prepare
yourself for the upcoming
season?
I worked on my stick skills
during the week and turned my
bedroom into a home gym so I
could watch Netflix while
working out and forced my little
brother to go for runs with me.
With the Fall season wrapped up, the Cross Country/Track and Field teams shifted their
focus to the Indoor season for the winter months. On December 2 and 6, the Women's
and Men's teams travelled to Annapolis, Maryland to participate in meets at the Naval
Academy.
On December 2, Jessica Whitmore, Moriah Fitzgerald and Ali Donahue each had
third-place finishes to pace the Mount performances. Whitmore finished in third in the
60m dash with a time of 7.78 seconds. Fitzgerald was third in the pole vault at 3.30m
while Donahue was third in the weight throw with a toss of 13.99m. Kristen Galligan
finished fourth in the 5,000m run with a time of 17:43.16.
On December 6, the Men's team opened their Winter season with a meet at Navy.
Julian Woods set a school record in the 60m hurdles. Woods finished second in the
60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.97 seconds, breaking Devin Barry's mark of 8.04
seconds set back in 2005. Josh Poole finished third in the 400m dash with a mark of
49.46 seconds while Chase Boyle was fifth in the weight throw.
