Gym Competition week—26th
Jan -30th
Jan 2015
With gym week set up to gain interest and knowledge of the gym and its activities
for everyone in the college.
Monday 26th
(Plank and sit up challenge) took place in canteen
With over 30 students taking part in the activities in the canteen and many more
watching the plank and sit up challenge went well with staff and students getting
involved.
Longest male plank was Mohamed Nagash with 7 minutes
Longest female plank was gilly with 3.26
The most sit ups was very close with Eron Wilson doing 70 only for Dawood Ghafar
to bet him with 75 with only a few minutes of the competition to go.
Wednesday 28th
Jan (3 minute cycle on the bike) took place in the canteen
Again with a lot of students watching and taking part the cycle challenge was a
quick 3 minute workout to see how far they can cover in km within 3 minutes, with
both males and females taking part the scores were pretty close.
Top 3 scores were
Archie Roberts with 1.10 km
Kishur Williams with 1.07 km
Mohamed Nagash with 1.05 km
Friday 30th
Jan (rowing competition 1000m
for male and 500m for females) in the
canteen
This was probably the hardest competition
due to the endurance needed in a lot of
muscles, with some students even unable
to finish.
3 fastest males with only 6 seconds be-
tween them were
Dawood Ghafur with 3.30 minutes
Dariusz Janik with 3.33 minutes
Samuel Iyinkanmi with 3.36 minutes
3 fastest females were
Alexandra Gibbs with 1.54 minute
Jessica Afonso with 2.15 minutes
Saima Ghani with 2.20 minutes
Next year we’ll have a whole host of new
weekly events for you to get involved in.
We look forward to seeing you next year.

Female Football—11th Feb
Having put in some decent displays against various opposition, the girls were
invited to attend an elite tournament run by Tottenham Hotspurs F.C.
Nine teams entered the competition, with the BSix ladies being the only team
there not affiliated to the Tottenham Hotspurs community football scheme.
With the team gaining in confidence and the enthusiasm of the team
spreading throughout the college, Bsix were able to bring a total of 14 girls to
the tournament to make up 2 teams of 7, which was by far the best
participation number from any of the other teams there present. SO WELL
DONE BSIX GIRLS!
Both teams started off well and although they both lost their opening
matches without scoring they could both be happy with the efforts.
The remaining games were tough for the girls, with fatigue setting in quickly
as the girls were not accustomed to playing 15 minute games back to back. So
with both teams having failed to win any of their remaining games, both were
eliminated in the group stages. However due to the level of opposition, the
tournament proved to be very challengingly for the girls with fitness and
physical strength playing a major part in their elimination, but it prove to be a
very insightful experience because it highlighted to the girls just how much
they needed to improve to compete with the very best female teams.
Cricket— 11th and 25th Feb
It had been a stonking year for indoor cricket for Bsix, although they had not one a single match they had played their hearts out and worked beautifully as a
team. Their downfall was the batting on their side, with 80% of the team between 16 and 17 years of age, it meant the at the team was very immature to
the game and so needed the guidance of the older more experienced players of the squad. Feb 11th saw the team play two back to back matches against
Tower Hamlets and Hackney Community College. The first game was a low scoring affair, Hackney edged past Bsix College. Hackney were only able to score
64 all out when batting first. Mukhtiar Jan (1-15), Hassan Shah (1-34) and Wafi Hikmat (1-15) all took a wicket each. The total seemed a very gettable one,
only for Bsix College to collapse to an embarrassing 42 all out. Opener Jan (18) offered some kind of resistance for BSix but Soyfur Rahman (2-5) won the
match with the final ball of his only over.
Wednesday the 25th saw Bsix facing NewVic, the current leaders in all of East London F.E sports. So the team knew they were going to be up against tough
competition. It was an absolute beasting for the battling Bsixers, with a final score of 125/4 NewVic and 37/6 Bsix. Mukthiar Jan did well to keep the spirits
of the team positive in a clear slaughter. Next Month will be different...
Cricket Team: Hassan Mallin, Dainius Rauba, John Canceran, Mo Hamlat, Mo Ali, Jeff Nadi, Chan Thiep and Akol Tiit
Basketball—14th
and 28th January
Bsix vs Leyton Sixth Form 14th
january
After a defeat on December 17th
the Bsix team were deflated and needed a boost. Playing Leyton sixth form as previous Bsix tams has done so many times,
it was expected that a powerful team would be arriving to the home teams court. The game started with Bsix making the first point, but shortly after, it
became apparent there was a lacklustre attitude hanging over the entire team. Because of the attitude Leyton latched on like a dog on a bone and gave the
team no leeway pulling ahead with a few well executed precision plays. The game seemed to whizz by, with Bsix playing a catch-up for the duration of each
quarter. The home team had the full support of the crowd, but it was not enough to keep Bsix charged up and fighting back. Some of the lacklustre play may
have been attributed to having nearly three weeks off from training as a team and the Christmas pudding may have still been weighing down some of their
bellies.
Leyton, although playing hard against Bsix, were not up to the standard that they had been the past three years, so it was a shame that the team could not
bring up the fierce nature that had been seen in some previous games which allowed them to closer contest their opposition. Overall the team played
disappointingly, which they had acknowledged and desired to make amends in their next game.
Bsix vs CONEL 28th
January
This was a team that had never been faced by Bsix, and so nobody had
known what to expect. The size of the players had seemed similar to that
of the Bsix squad yet their athleticism was showing to be a little more than
what Hassan was in the starting 5 for the first time in a long time. He
looked lost, but as he hadn’t trained in sometime it was going to take a
while for him to find his feet. The first bucket was scored by Mo Ali, as he
steamed past the defence after a beautiful screen by Hassan. Mo Hamlat
assisted Aliunho to score a three pointer from just outside the zone. After
such a great start from for out of the five players, it became apparent that
Dainius was playing a very unaggressive game, which was slowing the pace
down and not allowing himself to shine. CONEL were surprised by the
level of play that Bsix brought to the game, and so made two unnecessary
fouls on Aliunho. CONEL’s no.13 fouls Dainius near the end of the first
quarter giving him 2 shots. After securing a beautiful free-throw, Dainius
shows that his fires are burning and makes a beautiful steal and finish with
a coordinated assist from Chan.
The game played out with a beautiful back and forth for the duration of
the competition. The team were surprised at the closeness of the matchup
but their hours of training had paid off and was showing itself. By the
fourth quarter, both teams were drained as they pushed it to the limits,
the game tension was at an all-time high and fouls were coming thick and
fast from both sides as they battled to score the winning points. As the
final whistle went the game ended 57-51 to the home team (CONEL).
Football B Team—February 25th
The star team had returned to GOALs Dagenham once again, after
suffering but two defeats in the entire inter-college football
tournament in the previous match up. There were two new additions
to the squad, Marcin Sieniuc and Carlos Goncalves, so with a dynamic
that had already seemed to have been set in stone, the team were
anxious to see what the new additions were going to be adding to the
team.
The teams that had turned up did not know what hit them, with a
hungry squad, the first game was an even contest with both teams
scoring 2 a piece—Goals from Aaron and Joel. This was just the warm
up, with our three main strikers Kalilu Ceesay, Aaron Curtis and Carlos
Concalves. For the rest of the tournament, our new goalie, Marcin was
on top form, although tested in the first game, once the team got up to
speed and the synergy began to flow effortlessly, he wasn’t challenged
much but still made some epic diving saves.
Ainsley Ogilvie was still trying to make amends from the last
competition as the only player who hadn’t scored, although playing a
mainly defensive position. This time round it was though as if his feet were on fire and he was blasting goals in.
By the second game it was full swing and there was obviously a rivalry between Aaron (previous top scorer) and Carlos (the new kid on the block) to see who
could score the most. This contention was to the benefit of the squad as between the two of them they had scored more than 15 goals in the entire
tournament, this was by any measure an impressive feat. None of which could have been done without the support of their team mates.
Many of Carlos’ goals came from wonderful positioning and assistance from Kalilu, whist Aaron had the support of Joel and Ainsley to get him into prime
spots for striking with expert accuracy. On this occasion, Aaron was just edged to top scorer by Carlos, who’s sure footedness had seen him power home the
majority of his goals in Bsix’s 11-1 win over one of the colleges.
This was the first tournament where everyone had scored, excellent team work, great communication and effort from all the members meant that they had
achieved all that they could. The team had felt sorry for Marcin as his job was made redundant due to such astonishing defensive paly from Ainsley and
Kalilu. After beating all other teams with massive wins, the day ended with the team taking penalties at their keeper so that he could put his skills to the test.
It all ended in high spirits and keeper and out fielders are ready and waiting for the next challenge.
FootballTeam: Aaron Curtis, Marcin Sierciuc, Carlos Goncalves, Kalilu Ceesay, Ainsley Ogilvie and Joel Gibbons

  • 2. Football Team: Aisha Khalif, Marise Batista da Silva , Lotaya McGann, Dulce Uare, Catarina Saiembe, Umo Aua Camara, Leila Pereira Balde and Nadia Carvalho Cricket Team: MUkthiar Jan, Wafiullah Hikmat, Hasib Fazli, Raqib Matin, Hussain Shah and Saheil Bashar Female Football—11th Feb Having put in some decent displays against various opposition, the girls were invited to attend an elite tournament run by Tottenham Hotspurs F.C. Nine teams entered the competition, with the BSix ladies being the only team there not affiliated to the Tottenham Hotspurs community football scheme. With the team gaining in confidence and the enthusiasm of the team spreading throughout the college, Bsix were able to bring a total of 14 girls to the tournament to make up 2 teams of 7, which was by far the best participation number from any of the other teams there present. SO WELL DONE BSIX GIRLS! Both teams started off well and although they both lost their opening matches without scoring they could both be happy with the efforts. The remaining games were tough for the girls, with fatigue setting in quickly as the girls were not accustomed to playing 15 minute games back to back. So with both teams having failed to win any of their remaining games, both were eliminated in the group stages. However due to the level of opposition, the tournament proved to be very challengingly for the girls with fitness and physical strength playing a major part in their elimination, but it prove to be a very insightful experience because it highlighted to the girls just how much they needed to improve to compete with the very best female teams. Cricket— 11th and 25th Feb It had been a stonking year for indoor cricket for Bsix, although they had not one a single match they had played their hearts out and worked beautifully as a team. Their downfall was the batting on their side, with 80% of the team between 16 and 17 years of age, it meant the at the team was very immature to the game and so needed the guidance of the older more experienced players of the squad. Feb 11th saw the team play two back to back matches against Tower Hamlets and Hackney Community College. The first game was a low scoring affair, Hackney edged past Bsix College. Hackney were only able to score 64 all out when batting first. Mukhtiar Jan (1-15), Hassan Shah (1-34) and Wafi Hikmat (1-15) all took a wicket each. The total seemed a very gettable one, only for Bsix College to collapse to an embarrassing 42 all out. Opener Jan (18) offered some kind of resistance for BSix but Soyfur Rahman (2-5) won the match with the final ball of his only over. Wednesday the 25th saw Bsix facing NewVic, the current leaders in all of East London F.E sports. So the team knew they were going to be up against tough competition. It was an absolute beasting for the battling Bsixers, with a final score of 125/4 NewVic and 37/6 Bsix. Mukthiar Jan did well to keep the spirits of the team positive in a clear slaughter. Next Month will be different...
  • 3. Cricket Team: Hassan Mallin, Dainius Rauba, John Canceran, Mo Hamlat, Mo Ali, Jeff Nadi, Chan Thiep and Akol Tiit Basketball—14th and 28th January Bsix vs Leyton Sixth Form 14th january After a defeat on December 17th the Bsix team were deflated and needed a boost. Playing Leyton sixth form as previous Bsix tams has done so many times, it was expected that a powerful team would be arriving to the home teams court. The game started with Bsix making the first point, but shortly after, it became apparent there was a lacklustre attitude hanging over the entire team. Because of the attitude Leyton latched on like a dog on a bone and gave the team no leeway pulling ahead with a few well executed precision plays. The game seemed to whizz by, with Bsix playing a catch-up for the duration of each quarter. The home team had the full support of the crowd, but it was not enough to keep Bsix charged up and fighting back. Some of the lacklustre play may have been attributed to having nearly three weeks off from training as a team and the Christmas pudding may have still been weighing down some of their bellies. Leyton, although playing hard against Bsix, were not up to the standard that they had been the past three years, so it was a shame that the team could not bring up the fierce nature that had been seen in some previous games which allowed them to closer contest their opposition. Overall the team played disappointingly, which they had acknowledged and desired to make amends in their next game. Bsix vs CONEL 28th January This was a team that had never been faced by Bsix, and so nobody had known what to expect. The size of the players had seemed similar to that of the Bsix squad yet their athleticism was showing to be a little more than what Hassan was in the starting 5 for the first time in a long time. He looked lost, but as he hadn’t trained in sometime it was going to take a while for him to find his feet. The first bucket was scored by Mo Ali, as he steamed past the defence after a beautiful screen by Hassan. Mo Hamlat assisted Aliunho to score a three pointer from just outside the zone. After such a great start from for out of the five players, it became apparent that Dainius was playing a very unaggressive game, which was slowing the pace down and not allowing himself to shine. CONEL were surprised by the level of play that Bsix brought to the game, and so made two unnecessary fouls on Aliunho. CONEL’s no.13 fouls Dainius near the end of the first quarter giving him 2 shots. After securing a beautiful free-throw, Dainius shows that his fires are burning and makes a beautiful steal and finish with a coordinated assist from Chan. The game played out with a beautiful back and forth for the duration of the competition. The team were surprised at the closeness of the matchup but their hours of training had paid off and was showing itself. By the fourth quarter, both teams were drained as they pushed it to the limits, the game tension was at an all-time high and fouls were coming thick and fast from both sides as they battled to score the winning points. As the final whistle went the game ended 57-51 to the home team (CONEL).
  • 4. Football B Team—February 25th The star team had returned to GOALs Dagenham once again, after suffering but two defeats in the entire inter-college football tournament in the previous match up. There were two new additions to the squad, Marcin Sieniuc and Carlos Goncalves, so with a dynamic that had already seemed to have been set in stone, the team were anxious to see what the new additions were going to be adding to the team. The teams that had turned up did not know what hit them, with a hungry squad, the first game was an even contest with both teams scoring 2 a piece—Goals from Aaron and Joel. This was just the warm up, with our three main strikers Kalilu Ceesay, Aaron Curtis and Carlos Concalves. For the rest of the tournament, our new goalie, Marcin was on top form, although tested in the first game, once the team got up to speed and the synergy began to flow effortlessly, he wasn’t challenged much but still made some epic diving saves. Ainsley Ogilvie was still trying to make amends from the last competition as the only player who hadn’t scored, although playing a mainly defensive position. This time round it was though as if his feet were on fire and he was blasting goals in. By the second game it was full swing and there was obviously a rivalry between Aaron (previous top scorer) and Carlos (the new kid on the block) to see who could score the most. This contention was to the benefit of the squad as between the two of them they had scored more than 15 goals in the entire tournament, this was by any measure an impressive feat. None of which could have been done without the support of their team mates. Many of Carlos’ goals came from wonderful positioning and assistance from Kalilu, whist Aaron had the support of Joel and Ainsley to get him into prime spots for striking with expert accuracy. On this occasion, Aaron was just edged to top scorer by Carlos, who’s sure footedness had seen him power home the majority of his goals in Bsix’s 11-1 win over one of the colleges. This was the first tournament where everyone had scored, excellent team work, great communication and effort from all the members meant that they had achieved all that they could. The team had felt sorry for Marcin as his job was made redundant due to such astonishing defensive paly from Ainsley and Kalilu.
