TODAY’S MATCH-UP—Elmhurst
brings a 1-5 record into this afternoon’s
contest, looking for its first victory
since its season-opening win over Loras on September 5. Millikin brings an
identical 1-5 mark into today’s matchup. The Big Blue’s only win of the season came in a 52-49 shootout over Aurora on September 28.

offense with Elmhurst totaling 452
yards and Millikin piling up 557 yards.
Scottie Williams rushed for 229 yards
and four touchdowns to lead the Bluejays. Matt Holmes rushed for 170
yards and passed for 305 yards while
totaling four touchdowns for the Big
Blue.

STALKING THE SIDELINES - Joe
Adam is in his first season as the head
coach of the Elmhurst football team.
Adam scored his first career victory in
Elmhurst’s 35-9 season-opening win
over Loras. Adam has been a par of the
Bluejays’ staff for the past six seasons,
including five seasons as the team’s
defensive coordinator. He previously
coached at Grand Valley State University where he was part of two NCAA
Championships and also spent a season
as an assistant coach at Western Michigan University. He became the 18th
head football coach in Elmhurst history
after Tim Lester departed for Syracuse
University. Adam brings a 1-5 career
record into his first-ever match-up
against Millikin.
SERIES HISTORY - Today’s game is
the 58th meeting between Elmhurst and
Millikin on the gridiron. Millikin leads
the all-time series 42-15. The series
dates back to 1931 with Millikin scoring a 25-0 win over Elmhurst. The
Bluejays have won three straight meetings against the Big Blue and six of the
last eight contests.
LAST MEETING - Elmhurst nipped
Millikin 45-42 in overtime when the
two squads clashed in Decautr last year
(October 20, 2012). The Bluejays led
35-20 early in the third quarter, but
three straight scores gave the Big Blue
a 39-35 lead in the fourth quarter. The
Bluejays went back on top with three
minutes to play on a 33-yard touchdown pass from Joe Furco to Vince
Gabrys. A 27-yard field goal fom Millikin with just 15 seconds left sent the
game to overtime. The Bluejays settled
for a 44-yard David Tomis field goal
on their first try to take a three-point
lead. Millikin drove inside the Elmhurst
five yard line, but Marvin Carr jarred
the ball loose and Elmhurst recovered
to end the contest. The two squads
ACROSS THE FIELD - Patrick
Etherton is in her third season as the
head coach of the Big Blue. Etherton
has been on the Millikin football staff
since 2004 and also had coaching stops
at Washington & Jefferson College, the
University of Puget Sound and Allegheny College. Etherton brings a career
10-16 record into today’s game. He is 0
-2 in two previous meetings against the
Bluejays.

THE BLUEJAYS’ LAST WEEK Elmhurst stayed right with 13th-ranked
Wheaton before falling 28-3 to the Thunder. Trailing just 7-0 at the half, Elmhurst
cut into Wheaton’s lead early in the third
quarter on a 39-yard field goal from
David Tomis. Wheaton answered back
with three straight touchdown drives to
pull away for the 25-point win. Elmhurst
rushed for 150 yards and passed for 99 in
the loss. Garrett Claxon totaled 133
yards for the Bluejays, rushing nine times
for 52 yards and catching two passes for
61 yards.
THE BIG BLUE LAST WEEK Millikin fell to 1-5 overall after dropping
a 47-19 contest to Augustana. Leading by
just two points at the half, Augustana
outscored Millikin 33-7 in the second
half en route to the 28-point win. The Big
Blue rushed for 236 yards while passing
for 132 yards. Sean Dunning ran wild
for Millikin, carrying 28 times for 254
yards and three touchdowns. Augustana
QB Samuel Frasco rushed for 203 yards
and a score while also passing for 149
yards and a touchdown.
HOME SWEET HOME - Elmhurst has
shown a lot of success in defending its
own turf on Langhorst Field. After finishing a perfect 6-0 at home last season,
the Bluejays hold a 12-2 record at
Langhorst Field over the past two plus
seasons.The Bluejays nine game home
winning streak was halted three weeks
ago in a loss to fourth-ranked North Central.
OFFENSE/DEFENSE - Elmhurst enters
today’s game ranked 90th in the nation in
total defense, limiting opponents to just
346.3 yards per game. The Bluejays rank
51st in the nation against the run (174.0
yards per game) and 147th against the
run (172.3 yards per game). Elmhurst’s
offense enters the game ranked 214th in
the nation in total yardage (290.2 yards
per game). The Bluejays are ranked 75th
in the nation in rushing (189.7) but have
struggled through the air, ranking 227th
(100.5 yards per game).
OFFENSE/DEFENSE PART II Millikin’s offensive and defensive statistics are a near reverse of Elmhurst’s. The
