2. The long shot shows the Juxtaposition between the truck and the buggy The buggy slows down the traffic. Shows the slow pace of Amish life. The buggy ‘hides’ behind the bush. Showing the culture clash between the two with the Amish as the outcasts. Shows their ostracised perspective from the modern world The truck represents the modern society as a whole – it is big, powerful and the majority. The small buggy represents the small proportion of Amish compared to everyone else.

3. This medium shot also shows the juxtaposition between the buggy and the modern world. (clash of cultures) The buggy is the only vehicle in its lane, showing how the Amish have different paths/goals/journeys compared to the rest of society.

5. As Daniel walks away from the train station, the medium shot shows the juxtaposition of horses/buggy and the 2 cars parked, again, showing the clash of cultures.

8. A POV shot is used to allow the audience to understand the exciting new experience Samuel is facing. It uses a medium shot so we can see Samuel's facial expression, as well as setting. A first person shot is used to emphasise the excitement Samuel is feeling . The audience are seeing this through his eyes as he waves to the hot air balloon. This shot shows the clash of cultures, because Samuel hasn’t seen anything like this before. Shows how different the two cultures are.
