DAVID is a highly skilled Human Resource and Employee Relations professional with a
career spanning 25 years across Mining, Construction, Food Manufacturing, Electricity and
Rail. He is recognised for his ability to develop and execute highly successful people strategy
aligned to business objectives. David prides himself on a pragmatic, solution based approach

CAREER PROFILE
Prior to establishing Alkooie Workplace Solutions, David held the position of Director of
Human Resource for Leighton Contractors Pty Ltd.
In this role, he was globally accountable for all People Related activities in Coal, Iron Ore,
Gold and Diamond operations across Australia, New Zealand and Africa. As part of a
leadership team of six, David played a significant role in supporting the growth of the
business, peaking at over $2.6 b pa in revenue and 6500 employees.
Prior to Leighton, David held a number of high-level Human Resource and Employee
Relations leadership roles across a variety of industry sectors including Mining, Construction,
Manufacturing, Electricity and Rail. As Manager Workplace Reform for Queensland Rail,
David was principally responsible for preparing its 13500 employees for the transition to
privatisation during the most significant expansion period in its history.
The development of successful workforce strategy for both large multi national corporations
as well as small to medium enterprises has been a career trademark. David is recognised by
peers and team members for an inclusive and pragmatic leadership style, demonstrated
through a history of developing high performing teams of Professionals.
A strong understanding of business and service provision has enabled him to undertake
broader management accountability for safety health and environment, training and
development, policy and governance, community relations, indigenous relations and quality
assurance.
