Recent research reveals that our senses are more interconnected than previously thought with sound
and colour are now known to enhance our perception, understanding and enjoyment of flavour.
This interconnectedness between naturally occurring flavours and corresponding sound and light
frequencies is explored in UNEXPECTED CONNECTIONS, a unique 4-way pairing of exquisite food,
drinks, music and light.
Harmonising & contemporary soundscapes are bought to life with dynamic lighting that accompanies each course,
evoking changing moods and sensations throughout the experience. From the deep, atmospheric red lighting and
low sonic frequencies that resonate with strong, rich and earthy flavours through to the shimmering high notes, rising
crescendos and vibrant violet lighting that bring sweet flavour notes alive, UNEXPECTED CONNECTIONS is a
sensory kaleidoscope embracing the full spectrum of taste, sound and colour frequencies.

the unique surroundings of the Serpentine Sackler Gallery in Kensington Gardens.
This impressive space is the London flagship venue for Kofler & Kompanie, the food architects behind the
worldwide ‘Pret A Diner’ concept. Magazine is the late Zaha Hadid’s first permanent project in central London.
As the first female recipient of the RIBA gold medal award for architecture in 2016, Zaha Hadid’s contribution
to world architecture is unparalleled. The Magazine features a flowing roofline with soaring columns, arches
and stunning glass walls to create an exciting, inspiring, yet serene space uniting food, art and design
and providing the perfect environment for UNEXPECTED CONNECTIONS.

The Magazine’s Head Chef Emmanuel Eger (Dorchester Grill, Restarant Die Leiter) and Sous Chef Felix Weber (Alain Ducasse
at The Plaza Athénée, Sketch, Pollen Street Social) show their deep love and understanding of contemporary European cuisine
in creating a seasonal canapé menu for each course of UNEXPECTED CONNECTIONS. The bold, well-balanced flavours allow
the quality of their local ingredients to shine through. The accompanying cocktails are stars in their own right. Inspired by world-class
mixology and expertly interpreted by the bar team at The Magazine, the finest premium spirits, the freshest fruit and hand-crafted
syrups and tinctures blended into beautifully balanced drinks that meticulously match the exquisite canapés.
With exclusive lighting design from leading London based event design & production company Event Concept, each
course combines their signature Concept 6SD with moving light fixtures to immerse guests in each dining chapter of the
UNEXPECTED CONNECTIONS experience. The dynamic lighting design complements the stunning architecture,
transforming the environment and enhancing the canapés, cocktails and musical ambience.
