With 35 years’ industry experience, I have worked proactively and delivered a broad range of
highway asset and operational services. I have proven success in taking forward and developing
new processes and ways of working and am recognised for my ability to work across a number of
service groups, providing a professional, flexible and directive approach, focussing on the required
outcomes. Excellent customer service has been a requirement throughout my career and I have
successfully engaged with diverse communities at all levels.

To undertake a lead role in the management and investigation of personal injury claims against
the Authority. Managing and responding to enquiries from the public, Solicitors, KCC Insurers,
attending Court to give evidence on behalf of the Authority, writing detailed reports for claims
defence, writing detailed witness statements, managing and monitoring own performance to
ensure deadlines are achieved, reporting defects to Operational staff with suggested solutions,

response service. Setting up a new team, managing the assessment and programming of
emergency works issued to the Contractor, managing and assessing reports from Operational staff
in relation to defects on the highway. Co-ordination with external consultants undertaking a
service wide review, staff training and development, improving contractor productivity.

Developed a new department that implemented the New Roads and Street Works Act across the
Highway Agencies network, took a lead role in liaising with surrounding highway authorities, public
utilities, and private contractors who wished to work on the network. Implemented practices for
the term contractor to adhere to under NRSWA.
Contract Supervisor May 1984 – July 1990

Supervised various areas for the company for the laying of duct lines for cable television, liaised
with the main contractor, sub-contractors and in house contractors/staff. Undertook the
production of as built drawings of the installed duct work, liaised with local authorities over any
issues regarding the finished surface. Undertook dealings with main contractor on budgets for the
work carried out and future builds.
