Mctague, an old buddy of mine who works at Wall Street now,
visited a few days ago and we had a few drinks. We talked about
all the stuff we loved like Rockwood Bar in the Big Apple, NYC
assets, fund investment reports and asset investments listed in
Barron’s, and even some of the New York Times main stories.
Then we ended up talking about one of the companies we’ve
been following – CrossFit.

In 2000, Greg Glassman created the company CrossFit. It
opened its first gym (or box as the company calls it) in Seattle
and named it CrossFit North. In 2005, the company had 13 other
boxes. By 2012 however, that number grew to a staggering 3,400
boxes.
But how did CrossFit come to be exactly? When Glassman was a
teen, he was also a gymnast. A gymnast’s workout routine was
centered exclusively on bodyweight exercises. Glassman wanted
to try something different. He tried working out with dumbbells
and a barbell, using them in squats and other exercises. The
result was amazing. Glassman was exceedingly stronger than his
peers.
Today, various routines have been developed for the CrossFit
enthusiast, and there are CrossFit challenges all over the world.
It has become a sport on its own. Even with its critics, who claim

that exercise shouldn’t be a sport, CrossFitters have stayed loyal
to it. CrossFit competitions have become not just a sport but a set
of sports with all the movements, revolutionizing the way people
approach health and wellness completely.
