1. Analysing media language in ‘bully sequence’
1. I will open my film with an overhead shot of a secondary school
because it clearly establishes the setting and what is going to
happen. This shot lets the audience imagine what the characters are
doing and leaves them wanting more.
2. Medium Long Shot is the next shot I used. It shows children
peacefully playing before the bully comes over. It gives a sense of
tranquillity before the storm.
3. The next shot I will use is a medium shot to show my bully. It gives
the audience a clear shot of the bully and his background
4. The next shot is a medium long shot. I use this this shot to give a
faraway perspective of the boy being intimidated by the bully. But I
didn’t want to be too far away with the distance a long shot gives
you.
5. The next shot is a close up. I did this to closely capture the face of
the victim when the bully is attacking him. You can see the emotion
on his face.
6. The next shot I used is the low angle shot. The effect of this is to
make the bully powerful and gives you the point of view of the
victim.
7. The next shot is a medium close up. This is the best shot of the
scenario of the boy getting punched. It’s close enough that you can
feel the drama but not too close you miss anything.
8. The next shot is a low angle. This is done when the boy is crying on
the floor. It makes him look weak and insignificant. This captures
how the victim is feeling as a result of the bullying.
